By resource is meant any physical entity, which has limited availability. These resources occur in their natural form. Few examples of natural resources are: •Air, wind and atmosphere •Plants (Flora) •Animals (Fauna) •Agronomy (the science of using plants for food, fuel, feed and fiber) •Wildlife •Forestry and Agroforestry •Coal and fossil fuels •Range and pasture •Soils •Water, oceans, lakes and rivers Something that people generally arent aware of, is that everything we use in everyday life are derived from natural resources, for example, milk which comes from cows - animals are a natural resource. We use water, food and vegetables that comes from plants, salt which is a mineral are some of the other natural resources. Wood that we get from tree is a natural resource. It can be used to build a house, make paper, burn in fireplaces and in stoves for cooking, etc. Man utilizes these resources in various ways. These resources are processed further so as to be made suitable for our needs. The table below is an example that shows in what way the resources have been utilized. Here's why so many nations want to control the South China Sea — and what China wants to do

01:59
The South China Sea plays an outsized role in international commerce and politics. A litany of regional and global powers crave its natural resources as well as the benefits that come with controlling on of the world's most important shipping lanes. China has aggressively pursued control over the Spratley Islands — an archipelago of rocks, reefs and cays that sit in the middle of the sea. Malaysia, Brunei, The Philippines, Vietnam and Taiwan have staked their own claims to the area, but it's really the United States Navy that stands in the way of China. The Seventh Fleet, however, cannot keep China from reclaiming land on the islands it controls. Professor Dave Denoon, director of the NYU Center on US-China Relations explains how the situation arose and how it will likely play out in upcoming years. -------------------------------------------------- Follow BI Video on Twitter: http://bit.ly/1oS68Zs Follow BI on Facebook: http://bit.ly/1W9Lk0n Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/ -------------------------------------------------- Business Insider is the fastest growing business news site in the US. 31st Anniversary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (Speech)

50:49
Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife, Quezon City July 4, 2018 President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the 31st founding anniversary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) at the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) Amphitheater, Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife in Quezon City. The President, together with DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu, led the ceremonial awarding of land titles under the Handog Titulo Program to the representatives of 75 beneficiaries in Metro Manila. The celebration had the theme, ‘Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan’, putting emphasis on everyone's responsibility to prevent and protect the environment from damage. In his speech, the Chief Executive sent a strong warning against open-pit mining operations. “There will be a time, I still have time left, that I will have to ban open-pit mining,” said the President, further stressing that the practice is destroying the lands and creating landslides near the area of open-pit mining operations. DENR Secretary Cimatu, in his welcome remarks, praised the lawmakers who authored Republic Act 11038 or the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System (E-NIPAS) Act that seeks to strengthen the government’s goal to protect the environment by providing mobilization of resources and the preservation and sustainability of the ecosystem by allowing more room for technical and scientific support. “The E-NIPAS Law has added 94 additional legislated protected areas all over the Philippines, and in short, better conservation and protection measures in our protected areas,” Secretary Cimatu said. To further demonstrate the DENR’s thrust, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by Secretary Cimatu turning over the 871,453 board feet of confiscated lumber to Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Head, Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario, for the rehabilitation of Marawi City. Former DENR Secretaries also attended the ceremony, commemorating the agency's major milestones since its reorganization into a Department in 1987. Nearing the end of the program, President Duterte led the celebratory singing for Secretary Roy Cimatu’s birthday. *** Connect with RTVM Website: http://rtvm.gov.ph Facebook: www.facebook.com/presidentialcom and www.facebook.com/rtvmalacanang Twitter: @RTVMalacanang Google+: google.com/+RTVMalacanang

Environmental Conservation and Natural Resources - YES

01:09
Environmental conservation and natural resources depend on protecting our planet. http://YourEarthSafe.com Sometimes the best thing you can do is nothing at all! At YES that's exactly what we do: we protect parcels of virgin wilderness by purchasing them on the free market and placing them in an independently managed international land trust safe from human exploitation. YES is a tool that allows you to become the beneficiary of virgin wilderness (generically referred to as "Land Unit") to help preserve them in their natural state thus allowing you to collaborate in the conservation of the planet. However small it might be, all contributions to environmental protection are always helpful. By joining YES you as an individual are contributing in a very real way to maintaining the global ecosystem, protecting the globall community and letting nature take its course.

Water Resources

11:38
005 - Water Resources In this video Paul Andersen explains how water is unequally distributed around the globe through the hydrologic cycles. Seawater is everywhere but is not useful without costly desalination. Freshwater is divided between surface water and groundwater but must me stored and moved for domestic, industrial, and agricultural uses. Subsidized low cost water has created a problem with water conservation but economic changes could help solve the problem. Do you speak another language? Philippine President Says 'All Mining' Should Be Closed After Landslides

Reuters reports that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday repeated his desire to shut all mines in the country. This following deadly landslides that some government officials and large miners said have been exacerbated by illegal small-scale mining. Presiding over a televised meeting of the government’s disaster response team two days after a powerful typhoon struck, Duterte said, “If I were to try to do my thing I will close all mining in the Philippines." Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Roy Cimatu earlier on Monday ordered all small-scale mining stopped in the Cordillera region. Landslides in the region have killed 24 people. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/qFYplB16Lb4/philippine-president-repeats-desire-to-close-all-mining-after-landslides-idUSKCN1LX15K http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

This was a video I made as a high school student for a natural resources project. Note: I do not own any of the rights of the music used in this video. All rights go to their respective owners.

PHILIPPINES - WikiVidi Documentary

The Philippines , officially the Republic of the Philippines , is an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia. Situated in the western Pacific Ocean, it consists of about 7,641 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila and the most populous city is Quezon City, both part of Metro Manila. Bounded by the South China Sea on the west, the Philippine Sea on the east and the Celebes Sea on the southwest, the Philippines shares maritime borders with Taiwan to the north, Vietnam to the west, Palau to the east and Malaysia and Indonesia to the south. The Philippines' location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons,, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. The Philippines has an area of 300,000 km2, according to the Philippines Statistical A... http://www.wikividi.com ____________________________________ Shortcuts to chapters: 00:04:00 Etymology 00:05:12 Prehistory 00:07:40 Precolonial epoch ____________________________________ Copyright WikiVidi. Local sets fire to fountain full of natural gas in southern Philippines

00:46
This region in southern Philippines is driving investors wild – it has so much untapped natural gas that locals can set fire to the water. American engineers believe that the remote towns of North Cotabato and Maguindanao hold half a trillion dollars’ worth of gas. The untapped natural gas here is a resource that could transform the impoverished country. It is our responsibility as a Filipino and as a citizen of this planet! *To correct the statistic in the video: As of April 2010, there were 374 Tamaraw recorded in the wild. And as of May 2011, there were now only 274 individuals recorded.

Malacanang on Tuesday disclosed the government’s plan to buy more marine vessels that could be used for scientific research and exploration of natural resources in the Philippine Rise. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte had discussed with his Cabinet members the need to invest in maritime survey ships during last Monday’s cabinet meeting. During last month’s Cabinet meeting, Duterte ordered to stop all marine researches and explorations by foreign scientists in the Philippine Rise located east of Luzon. Among foreign countries that have previously conducted research in Philippine Rise include the United States, China, Japan, Korea and Germany.

The Philippines, Pearl of the Orient Seas

02:14
The Philippines is a country in Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. The combined length of all its beaches make for one of the world's longest coastlines, and the many islands and many waves of immigration make for considerable cultural diversity. It would take decades to visit and experience everything. It has been Asia's largest Roman Catholic country since Spanish colonial times, but perhaps the easiest way to recognise a Filipino abroad is to see who has the broadest smile. More than a hundred distinct ethnic groups, a mixture of foreign influences and a fusion of culture and arts enhance the wonder that is the Philippines. Its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and its tropical climate make the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons but have also endowed the country with natural resources and made it one of the richest areas of biodiversity in the world. An archipelago comprising more than 7000 islands, the Philippines is categorized broadly into three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Its capital city is Manila. With an estimated population of about 94 million people, the Philippines is the world's 12th most populous country. An additional 11 million Filipinos live overseas. Multiple ethnicities and cultures are found throughout the islands. In prehistoric times, Negritos were some of the archipelago's earliest inhabitants. They were followed by successive waves of Austronesian peoples who brought with them influences from Malay, Hindu, and Islamic societies. Trade introduced Chinese cultural influences which remain to this day. The arrival of Ferdinand Magellan in 1521 marked the beginning of an era of Spanish interest and eventual dominance. Miguel López de Legazpi arrived in the Philippines in 1565 and consolidated Spanish rule in the islands, which remained a colony of Spain for more than 300 years. QUESTIONS? DIWATA to DENR Sec. Cimatu: Be an Ambassador for Natural Resources

01:47
Former Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs and previous Ambassador to Germany, Delia Domingo-Albert requests former Envoy to the Middle East and ‘Thinking General’ Roy Cimatu, to be an ‘Ambassador for Natural Resources’. “Your experience in diplomacy will be very, very useful for your job in the DENR. And one of the things that considered me to be the President’s envoy for mineral resource was the fact that I was a diplomat. And the first thing that I thought that would be very important was a regular dialogue between you, the DENR and the private sector. Today’s session showed how much we have learned from this dialogue from the presentation you gave to us this afternoon. It widens everybody’s horizon. So, Mr. Ambassador, please be an Ambassador for Natural Resources because dialogue is very important. To promote my dialogue, we have formed DIWATA - Women in Resource Development. These are women who are trying to provide a platform for regular dialogue because I think there is no problem we cannot address if there is a sincere and open dialogue between the public and private sector”. For more information about DIWATA, please go to www.diwata.org
