Difference Between apt and apt-get Explained

04:15
This video explains the difference between apt and apt-get commands of Linux. It also lists some of the most commonly used apt commands that replace the older apt-get commands. One of the noticeable new features of Ubuntu 16.04 was the ‘introduction’ of apt command. The reality is that the first stable version of apt was released in the year 2014 but people started noticing it in 2016 with the release of Ubuntu 16.04. It became common to see apt install package instead of the usual apt-get install package. Eventually, many other distributions followed Ubuntu’s footsteps and started to encourage users to use apt instead of apt-get. You might be wondering what’s the difference between apt-get and apt? And if they have a similar command structure, what was the need for the new apt command? You might also be thinking if apt is better than apt-get? Should you be using the new apt command or stick with the good old apt-get commands? I’ll explain all these questions in this article and I hope that by the end of this article, you’ll have a clearer picture. apt vs apt-get What's the difference between apt vs apt-get Just a quick word for Linux Mint users. A few years ago, Linux Mint implemented a python wrapper called apt that actually uses apt-get but provides more friendly options. This apt which we are discussing here is not the same as the one in Linux Mint. Before we see the difference between apt and apt-get, let’s go into the backdrop of these commands and what exactly they try to achieve. Why apt was introduced in the first place? it's foss Debian, mother Linux of distributions like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, elementary OS etc, has a robust packaging system and every component and application is built into a package that is installed on your system. Debian uses a set of tools called Advanced Packaging Tool (APT) to manage this packaging system. Don’t confuse it with the command apt, it’s not the same. There are various tools that interact with APT and allow you to install, remove and manage packages in Debian based Linux distributions. apt-get is one such command-line tool which is widely popular. Another popular tool is Aptitude with both GUI and command-line options. If you have read my guide on apt-get commands, you might have come across a number of similar commands such as apt-cache. And this is where the problem arises. You see, these commands are way too low level and they have so many functionalities which are perhaps never used by an average Linux user. On the other hand, the most commonly used package management commands are scattered across apt-get and apt-cache. The apt commands have been introduced to solve this problem. apt consists some of the most widely used features from apt-get and apt-cache leaving aside obscure and seldom used features. It can also manage apt.conf file. With apt, you don’t have to fiddle your way from apt-get commands to apt-cache. apt is more structured and provides you with necessary options needed to manage packages. Bottom line: apt=most common used command options from apt-get and apt-cache.

Install RStudio in Ubuntu 14.04 and install packages / libraries

11:06
This video is a continuation of the previous video where I demonstrated how to install R. In this video I am going to demonstrate how to install the RStudio IDE on Ubuntu 14.04. Download link for Rstudio: https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/ dpkg command for installation: sudo dpkg -i rstudio-0.99.491-amd64.deb (the file name has to be the same as the downloaded file) Command for adding the missing dependent libraries: sudo apt-get install -f and follow this with the below update command: sudo apt-get update and then repeat the sudo dpkg command as indicated above (this is necessary ONLY when error is encountered) I forgot to mention in the video that during library installation you might encounter an error stating that the library path is not writeable. There are two options to resolve this: a) launch RStudio from terminal in sudo mode as: sudo rstudio b) Install the libraries in a location where you have write access; the command in R/Rstudio is: install.libraries("xxxx", lib="Your/Custom/Folder/Path") In order to call this library you need to provide this pat of this custom folder as" library("xxxx", lib.loc="Your/Custom/Folder/Path") (be mindful about the two lib vs lib.loc!!) Please share you comments. Subscribe my channel for more upcoming data science / analytics video

Basic install of Webmin Control Panel on Debian

06:50
This video teaches you how to install Webmin on Debian Linux, and discusses the post-installation wizard and what the options mean and what trade-offs are involved in choosing between them. If you are using the DEB version of webmin, first download the file from the downloads page , or run the command : wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin_1.890_all.deb then run the command : dpkg --install webmin_1.890_all.deb The install will be done automatically to /usr/share/webmin, the administration username set to root and the password to your current root password. You should now be able to login to Webmin at the URL http://localhost:10000/. Or if accessing it remotely, replace localhost with your system's IP address. If Debian complains about missing dependencies, you can install them with the command : apt-get install perl libnet-ssleay-perl openssl libauthen-pam-perl libpam-runtime libio-pty-perl apt-show-versions python If you are installing on Ubuntu and the apt-get command reports that some of the packages cannot be found, edit /etc/apt/sources.list and make sure the lines ending with universe are not commented out. Some Debian-based distributions (Ubuntu in particular) don't allow logins by the root user by default. However, the user created at system installation time can use sudo to switch to root. Webmin will allow any user who has this sudo capability to login with full root privileges. If you want to connect from a remote server and your system has a firewall installed, see this page for instructions on how to open up port 10000. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like to install and update Webmin via APT, edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file on your system and add the line : deb https://download.webmin.com/download/repository sarge contrib You should also fetch and install my GPG key with which the repository is signed, with the commands : cd /root wget http://www.webmin.com/jcameron-key.asc apt-key add jcameron-key.asc You will now be able to install with the commands : apt-get install apt-transport-https apt-get update apt-get install webmin All dependencies should be resolved automatically. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Vmware vCenter 6.7 - Intro to Distributed Switches" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_m9PMWrIGyQ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

How to Configure, Optimize, Install Software, Update, and Secure Your Linux Mint 18 Install

48:44
In this video, I'm going to show you many things. The biggest thing is setting up some security for the system including updates/patching. Many have themselves falsely convinced that Linux isn't susceptible to malware aka viruses. This isn't true as there are still quite a bit of malware out there for Linux just not as much as Windows. The biggest thing you can do is make sure you have a firewall, antivirus, and updates down. I also go over how to install software and configure the system for every day use. (This works for all Desktop Environments of Linux Mint) Commands Used: To elevate to Super User: $ sudo su To update the repository List: # apt-get update To update installed software: # apt-get upgrade To update distro packages: # apt-get dist-upgrade To Install software: apt-get install skype To add a repository: add-apt-repository ppa:(repository name)/ppa Links: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2013/07/install-peerguardian-ubuntu-13-10-13-04-ppa/ http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/43471/how-to-configure-the-linux-grub2-boot-menu-the-easy-way/ We are in no way shape or form associated with any of the companies or organizations whom develop or distribute the software demoed in this video. We simply recommend this software because we have used it for quite some time and it works great. Hack Windows 7 W/ Just A IP Address & Eternal Scanner The Exploit Scanner "Leaked NSA Exploit"

10:50
"This video is for educational purposes only the channel does not support any misuse of the information given in this video" if you have any errors using the exploit run these commands apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get install apt-get install wine32 dpkg --add-arcitecture i386 && apt-get update && apt-get install wine32 In this video we talk about eternal blue the leaked NSA exploit it was used in the famous ransomware Wanna Cry also this exploit effects Windows 7 and Windows 2008 server it is very dangerous because it only needs an IP address to attack the Target and it can be used remotely we also show you the tool Eternal scanner which is a scanner that specifically scans for vulnerable targets that can be used to scan the entire internet as crazy as that sounds although we highly suggest not to do so and do not agree with doing so use the exploit via Metasploit and we also show you how to do that it is very simple you only need an a R host for the options and its ready to use you can also set the process used by the exploit by typing set PROCESSINJECT explorer.exe but that is not needed the exploits opitions are very similar to the all too well known exploit windows/smb/ms08_067_netapi and its juat a easy to use this exploit is still currently a huge threat especially to corporations which mostly used Windows XP or Windows 7 due to lack of upgrading because of money, complications, Logistics or whatever the case may be so remember this exploit is extremely powerful and extremely dangerous and reliable on Metasploit the exploit is known as windows/smb/ms17_010_eternalblue be careful when using this exploits in test because it can cause blue screen it is a kernel exploit always be very cautious when using kernel exploits do not test this on computers that you use or need to make sure if a computer is vulnerable to this exploit you can also use Metasploit auxiliary scanner by typing use auxiliary/scanner/smb/smb_17_010 and set RHOST to the ip address you want to scan type ,show tragets' after entering a exploit in metasploit to see a list of that exploits exploitable devices. again we are not responsible for any damage caused by the misuse of this information it is purely for educational purposes only. check us out on facebook at Stealth Data Zero group and page follow us on twitter @Stealth_Data_0

compiler votre propre noyau linux (kernel)

34:55

iOS 11.3.1/11.2.x ELECTRA - HOW TO FIX DPKG_LOCKED ERROR IN CYDIA

09:43
▶ Free up space for iPhone/iPad/iPod with iMyFone Umate: https://goo.gl/fXA14Y In today's tutorial, I am gonna show you how to fix the dreaded DPKG_LOCKED error on the Electra Jailbreak for iOS 11.3.1 all the way down to #iOS 11.0. The error is usually appearing in #Cydia when you try to install or upgrade any package and it is most of the time accompanied by a few yellow warnings related to files that cannot be opened or to DPKG itself. the DPKG stands for Debian Package and it handles the .deb packs which most tweaks on iOS are. This is an important component of the Cydia backend and without it, nothing can be installed. The errors on #Electra #Jailbreak are common because, for some reason, many people are resetting the contents and the settings of the device, which is something that should never be done on a jailbroken device. Fortunately, the fix is not very hard, at least not on Electra, however, it does require a PC and a stable SSH connection with the phone to be able to completely uninstall Electra and all the additional files that are now no longer working and producing errors. To do that we use delectra, an unjailbreak script published by developer KirovAir on GitHub. After the script runs and clears all Electra-related files, you can simply reboot and Jailbreak again with Electra. At this point, everything including Cydia and its backend helpers like DPKG and APT should have been re-installed and re-configured to work properly. You will most likely get an error about the repo666.ultrasnow. If you do, just remove the repo completely. ▽ Resources ▽ ▶ Learn how to make iOS Apps!: https://goo.gl/NzPNU6 ▶ Get Electra JAILBREAK: https://youtu.be/iiEji8COqWA ▶ Delectra: https://github.com/KirovAir/delectra ▶ Cyber-Duck (Windows): https://cyberduck.io ▶ WinSCP (Windows): https://winscp.net ▽ Social Media ▽ ▶ Our Sub-Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/idevicecentral/ ▶ Facebook: https://facebook.com/fce365official ▶ Twitter: https://twitter.com/FCE365 ▶ Our Website: https://fce365.info ▽ Full disclosure ▽ The link for iMyFone Umate from the top of the description is sponsored by iMyFone. ▽ Credits ▽ ▶ The Electra logo in the thumbnail is the creation of https://twitter.com/aesign_
4 Ways to Uninstall Software in Linux Mint

07:33
In this video, you will learn 4 different ways to uninstall programs in Linux Mint. I will also explain to you how and why these 4 ways should be used in my view. Watch more Linux Mint videos https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSmXPSsgkZLsiemyy_Rzcqf_0iED8ZfHS These ways are: 1. Right click on the program in the menu. 2. Linux Mint Software manager. 3. Synaptic package manager. 4. Command Line - Standard way: sudo apt-get remove program-name - Remove a program and its configuration files: sudo apt-get purge program-name && sudo apt-get autoremove In my opinion, the best option for an absolute Linux newbie is to remove a program with right click in the menu or through the Software manager. The Synaptic package manager is the best option if you are more experienced user and you want to have more control over your system. I personally use Synaptic package manager most of the time in my Linux Mint. The Command Line is the hard core option to remove a program in Linux Mint. This is the best way if you want to learn how to use the command line and you really want to learn Linux. These were 4 ways to uninstall programs on Linux Mint I know about. If you know more ways to uninstall programs on Linux Mint, please leave a comment below. I would also appreciate if you share this video with those who may find it useful. Eternal Blue Leaked NSA EXploit & Eternal Scanner

How to install AMD graphics drivers on Ubuntu

10:47
THIS VIDEO IS WOEFULLY OUTDATED! Do not attempt to use the info. Updated version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENjrGBFXa_4&feature=youtu.be There are a lot of very relative terms in this video such as "functional" and "automated". If you want to update the driver the process is done the same way as the initial install. You most likely will not have to update all the packages but if it fails that may be why. You do not have to remove the old version as in windows, the installer from AMD automatically removes it and re-installs the newer version. Instructions: 1. Download the drivers from AMD's website that correspond with your version of Ubuntu. 2. Run "sudo apt-get update" 3. Run "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" 4. Install the dependencies by running " sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic build-essential cdbs fakeroot dh-make debhelper debconf libstdc++6 dkms libqtgui4 wget execstack libelfg0 dh-modaliases" 5. Change the directory to the 'Downloads directory (or the directory where the .run is currently located.) 6. Make the .run file executable by either clicking "allow file to execute as a program" in the permissions tab under properties or running "chmod +x (AMD Driver .run file)" 7. Execute the .run file with "./(AMD driver .run file)" 8. Select 'generate a distribution specific package' 9. Select the package for your distribution. 13.10 is 'Ubuntu/saucy' 13.04 is 'Ubuntu/raring' and 12.04.02 or 12.04.03 is "Ubuntu/precise' 10. Install the .deb packages using "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" 10.5 If any dependencies are not installed then run "sudo apt-get install -f" 11. DO NOT REBOOT THE COMPUTER! Run "aticonfig --initial" if you have a single device or "aticonfig --adapter=all --initial" if you are running multiple graphics adapters eg. crossfire. 12. Now you can reboot the computer. 13. The linux version of the catalyst control center is like that guy you are pretty sure sells drugs on the side. It doesn't work that well. When you try to launch it in administrative mode it works on occasion. Others it just says 'authentication failure' the fail-safe way to do this launch it from the terminal using "sudo amdcccle" or for more experienced linux users, make your own launcher. 14. Configure the catalyst control center how you please then reboot. It should be ready to use. For all people with X-fire graphics cards. You need to install Ubuntu with only one of the cards installed. Once the install is complete. Place the second card back on the motherboard. When booting go to 'Advanced options for Ubuntu' and select the 'latest kernel (recovery mode)'. Select failsafe graphics and hit enter twice, then click around until you find your mouse and select ok. On the next screen select low graphics settings for just one use' The screen will look like what I can only assume acid does to you. Then hit enter if it freezes and it should show you the log in screen. You must configure the drivers or boot like that every time you start Ubuntu.

Step by Step Install Google-chrome and Configure on Kali linux 2016.2

03:23
تثبيت جوجل كروم على لينكس كالي -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kali Linux 2.0 is here, which most of us love already. Also, we love Google Chrome, but these two ( Kali Linux 2.0 and Google chrome ) does not work well ( except when you do it right ). Today I will show you how to properly install google chrome on Kali Linux. #Step 1: Get the deb file You need to download the Chrome .deb file to install on your Kali Machine. Go HERE and download the .deb ( Make sure you download the correct one – 32bit or 64bit ) Step 2: Installing the deb using dpkg Let’s install the .deb file. For that, open up a terminal and “cd” to the directory where you have downloaded the deb file. Remember to use “sudo” if you’re not root. As a side not, you can install any .deb file on Kali or any Debian based distro using the following command. *** cd ~/Downloads # dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb # It will probably show you an error saying there is some dependency issue or some stuff like that. I don’t actually remember the error. But, install the following package and you should be good to go apt-get install libappindicator1 # Once the above packages has been installed, issue the following command # so that all the dependencies will get installed properly apt-get -f install The package manager will start to install all the dependencies and once that is finished, you could see that the package manager is setting up google chrome. And Google chrome should be installed in a few seconds. Step 3: Now comes the issue, you cannot run Chrome, yet This is where things get ugly. If you try to open up google chrome, it won’t open. Nothing would happen. Actually, you won’t see any error messages. It just won’t open. And there is a reason why it won’t open, that’s because you’re trying to run it as “root”. Default user in Kali is “root” and it was done for a reason, Kali is not intended to use as a daily OS. But that does not mean that you can’t use it as a daily OS. In fact, Kali 2.0 is my main OS and it runs without any issues. If you want to use Chrome, you have two options: In fact there are several methods by which you can use Google chrome. Most of them involve enabling chrome to be run as root. This is not the right way to handle things. There is a reason why chrome refuses to run as root. That’s because, if you run the browser as root, then someone exploiting your browser could get root privileges. But, anyway, let’s cut to the chase. Option 1. Create a normal user with sudo privileges to use daily, and use “sudo su -” to switch to root whenever you want. This is the preferred method. This is how I use Kali. If you want to know how to set up a sudo user in Kali, please go HERE Option 2. Create another user and switch to that user in a terminal and open up the applications like google chrome or VLC. Let me explain this for you: This is how it’s done in the second option: # First of all, we need to enable access to X server for all users # Otherwise, the newly created user won't be able to run applications with GUI # Issue the following command xhost + # Create a new user. Here bob is the username adduser bob # Now the program will ask for password etc, provide them # Once the user is created, you can switch to the new user using the following command su - bob # Now you're in bob's terminal, and you can open google chrome by typing google-chrome # It should open up the chrome browser
