How to attract investors to your business or start-up
For more on how to attract investors to your business, get my fundraising ideas book: http://www.amazon.com/10-Fundraising-Ideas-Strategies-strategies-ebook/dp/B00KADT0Q2/ For more tutorials and help on how to attract investors when raising money for you business, try my business apps: http://www.problemio.com Here is the blog post on how to attract an investor with a business plan http://glowingstart.com/attract-investors-business-business-plan/ In this video, I explain how to attract investors. The truth is that to attract investors, you have to do three things: 1) build momentum for your business 2) get covered in press so that investors hear about you, and 3) reach out to the investors directly. Even if you do build momentum for your business,, and are getting clients and making sales, it is still not simple to attract investors. While it is their job to seek out great companies, they generally deal with so many companies bombarding them with requests for an investment, that investors have very little time to actually go out and seek companies out. So generally, you do not attract investors to you, but rather make sure that they take notice when you make an effort to reach them. So just like you would do if you worked in sales, instead of waiting to attract investors, you have to be where they are. They usually browse various publications that cover their industries. So getting press can be one way to attract investors, and get them to notice your business. So when you are ready to seriously begin your fundraising efforts, and your business has grown enough to attract an investor, you can attract investors by reaching out to them. Hopefully they will already be familiar with your business from hearing about you in various press coverage. If they are already familiar with your business, it will be simpler to attract those investors. Additionally, I have created a number of mobile apps to help you grow your business, and eventually, hopefully attract investors. Here is the Android business plan app which can help you plan and understand how to attract investors: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=business.premium iOS business plan app which can help you plan and understand how to attract investors: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/business-plan-and-coach/id554845193 And here is my 4-app business starting course on the Kindle. Seed Funding for Startups: How to raise venture capital as an entrepreneur
Need a Pitch Deck: slidebean.com/pitch-deck?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=video-content Raising money is hard. It's so hard most companies fail at it. In this video, we'll look into traction requirements, pitch decks, alternative funding sources and on how to find investors. This is seed funding for entrepreneurs. I'm the CEO of a company called Slidebean, and thousands of startups have used our platform to create their pitch decks. Their success is our success, and this is why we get involved with them and have learned a thing or to about what works, and what doesn't. I started my first company in 2011, and I failed at raising capital. I know the pain of shutting down a website you spent countless hours on, and having to email all your customers to say it's game over. The problem with my first company is that we spent too much time trying to find investors, hence we failed to notice some of the fundamental flaws in our product. For Slidebean, we raised a seed round of $800,000 which has allowed us to grow to a team of 25, increase our revenue to seven digits and become profitable in the process. And yeah, it was hard. I'm telling you this because I want you to trust my advice. I tried and failed, and I can look back and see why I got a 'NO' from most of the 142 investors I pitched. Yeah, 142 to raise $800,000. So let's talk about traction, first. I have this problem with startup press (but we love YOU, @jordanrcrook). It gives new founders a false notion of how fundraising works. You read the story of Yo, an app that just sent notifications saying 'Yo' and how they raised a $1,000,000 seed round, and you assume that's something anyone with a couple of lines of code can do. Most companies raise money AFTER getting traction. Very few companies raise money with just a prototype and no users, and certainly, NO company raises money without a fully formed founding team. The most extreme case here is tech companies that are trying to raise money to hire a CTO. This makes no sense. Tech talent is expensive, and it's scarce, and the first proof that your company is worth something is that you managed to find a full stack developer that would turn down a job at Google to work on this idea. As a CEO, you need to be able to find and convince that guy, who joins your company for the stock and not for the salary; when he could be making $150,000/yr otherwise. The reality of startup fundraising today, at least in Silicon Valley and New York, is that companies are pitching investors with traction, excellent traction. Traction usually comes in the form of revenue: tens of thousands of dollars per month, growing over +20% month-over-month. I'm not making this up, check this article by VC Elizabeth Yin. Pure play, no-revenue traction counts only when you are dealing with millions of users and fantastic retention rates. So how can you get to these numbers venture capitalists expect, if you don't have any money to start with? Yeah well, bootstrapping. We bought our domain in 2013 and started working on our product, but it was only after 18 months that we managed to get any decent money to ramp up growth. It was $100,000 from the 500 Startups program, but we'll talk about accelerators in a minute. From May 2013 through October 2014 we bootstrapped. We did part-time consulting so we could pay our bills. We had a $1,000 salary each, and we shared an apartment. It was barely enough, but the backgrounds of the three founders made up for all the talent we needed: no need to hire anyone. Our company burn rate was probably $3,500 including our 'salaries' and the services we needed. -- Links we referred to: Check out this one for more info on how to get into an accelerator: https://slidebean.com/blog/startups/accelerator-application-500-startups?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=video-content&utm_term=seed-funding Download our Pitch Deck template: https://slidebean.com/business-presentation-templates/?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=video-content&utm_term=seed-funding To Download our Managing Investors spreadsheet template sign up to FounderHub here: https://founderhub.io/?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=video-content&utm_term=seed-funding Elizabeth Yin Article: https://elizabethyin.com/2018/10/18/should-you-raise-money-or-bootstrap/ ► Subscribe to our Channel Here http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=slidebean -- About Us: Slidebean is a pitch deck creation tool with hundreds of templates available to use as a starting point. Tips and tricks that will help you to find investors for your startup. I also included templates for emails you can use to contact investors. 12 Tips for Finding Investors For Your Startup: 1. Overvaluing Your Idea is bad. 2. Co-Founders over Investors. 3. Product first. Investors later. Focus on your business and investors will find you. Get to MVP or first customers, then talk to investors. 4. Be brief when creating Pitch Deck. Use high-concept pitch. Focus on Product, Target Consumers and Monetization. 5. Always have alternatives. Consider crowdfunding, ICOs, etc. (More info: https://medium.com/blockchain-review/how-to-do-an-ico-d02c54a990c2) 6. Look for smart money. 7. Ask them for an honest feedback. Even if they say no, you can learn a lot. 8. Build profiles on AngelList, Crunchbase, http://mamstartup.pl/startupy 9. Try Facebook Groups, Slack channels etc. https://www.facebook.com/groups/twistartups/about/ or https://medium.com/startup-study-group/100-slack-communities-for-a-startup-ceo-34264bf9001 10. Try events like Startup Weekends or organizations such as Founder Institute 11. Use a free lists of investors such as: https://blog.udemy.com/top-angel-investors/, be brief when engaging. 12. Don’t stop believing. Disbelievers story. To summarize: investors can bring a huge value. They can help you scale your business. But getting an investor shouldn’t be the goal itself. Investors are means to an end. PS: Sorry for poor audio. How To Pitch To Investors In Under 2 Minutes
Check out my eCourses with worksheets here: https://nathangold.teachable.com/ This video will show you how to pitch to investors in under 2 minutes without the aid of any slides. More videos and coaching are available here: http://www.nathangold.com/ When you are given the opportunity to pitch your company and all you have is a microphone and a panel of investors waiting for you to pitch, you need to be well scripted and rehearsed for the performance. Without a script indelibly inscribed in your brain, you will usually run over on time, not cover everything you wanted to talk about, or worse, completely lose your way. This cannot and should not be an extemporaneous talk where you condense your 10 minute presentation into 2 minutes. The real purpose of the 2 minute pitch is to convince an investor to ask you questions that will ultimately lead to one of two outcomes. Either they will like you enough to continue talking with you or they can become a resource for you to leverage at some time in the future. Recently, at the VCTaskforce in Palo Alto, California, 10 companies were given 2 minutes to pitch to a panel of angel investors. These were who's who in Silicon Valley, such as Tom Cervantez co-founder of the Harvard Angels, Raffy Chatav from Silicom Ventures, John Ryan from Band of Angels, and Paul Twombly from Keiretsu Forum. You should see what these people give as feedback to people who obviously have not really prepared for the event. Speaking of preparing, that is exactly what this video is all about. You will learn how to have a great opening that will capture the attention of the listener. Following that, you'll be able to clearly articulate the value of your business by answering 6 questions on the minds of your investors. After watching this video, you will clearly understand and know how NOT to sound the S.A.M.E. as other presenters. And, you'll be able to effectively use the Columbo Close, a powerful attention-getting tool, as the last words the investor will hear from you. The information contained in this video is the result of the last 6 years of delivering workshops and coaching real people who are raising capital. It's the same information I give out in the first coaching session along with an important homework assignment. This is not a sales presentation to get you to hire me. This video contains only "solid nourishment" and no "empty calories" to waste your time or money. Here are a few who used this approach: -Glue Networks raised $4.5 million from Angels -Education.com raised $9.2 million Series B -Sim Ops Studios raised $3 million Series A -Abulla received 6 calls from VC's after a 7 minute presentation -Zazingo went into due diligence after their first meeting with a VC

Angel Investors are the experienced entrepreneurs who themselves has been through the same phase from which you are going through and the ones who understands what it takes to create a billion dollar company out of an idea. 👉It is true that “What business makes great is the great idea” But business require funds to make it big, A guidance from a more experienced person can increase the probability of your business success as well. 👉An angel could be: - a succesfful entrpreneur - princiapal/partner at a VC firm - executive, cxos at companies in your sector - other rich/susscessful people you know 👉Angel investors (not venture capital firms) are the most likely candidates to get your businesses from a piece of paper to a proof-of-concept. These angel investors typically come in four distinct groups: 👉Individual Angel Investors- As for finding angel investors directly, this is the hardest route, by far. First, because they prefer to stay anonymous. And, second, because they don't know you at all. Sometimes rich individuals have built formal family investment offices, with professional managers screening deals for them. But,if they can afford a family office, they prefer to invest $5MM+ in more typical venture investments, not $500K for a startup. Preferably, you need to find an individual that understands your industry and business model and can bring real value to the table. If they have first hand experience in your space, and they think they can help you accelerate your efforts, it is easier for them to get over the investment hurdle. So, identify those individuals, and try to figure out someone they know, who can credibly make an introduction for you. As an example, if you think you have the next great video gaming technology, I would research what similar video game technologies have recently been sold (meaning the founder just got very cash rich), and reach out to that founder to tap into their expertise as an advisor, board member or investor. Notice, I didn't lead with investor. You need to establish credibility with this individual before jumping into the investment question. And, if he doesn't want to invest, he may know others in the industry that would, so ask him for references. Venture capital firms are also aware of key angels in their market, so reach out to them for guidance. Angel List is a particularly good resource that makes finding angels for your region/industry easier than ever, so check them out as a good place to start. But, again, look for credible relationships to help open the door for you, preferably to investor is your home market (as most angels tend to bias local investments). 👉Angel Investor Networks This category, is my favorite category: networks aggregating angel investors. Like the family offices, investors set aside funds for angel investments, screened by a professional team that sources deals for the network. So, the individual angel gets to keep their anonimity and have the comfort of a team of smart managers doing due diligence on investment targets, on their behalf. So, instead of one angel investing $1MM by themself, 100 angels aggregate $100MM and invest as a group in the deals they like the best, individually or collectively. And, on the flipside, it is much easier for you to raise your full amount needed, with one phone call, instead of calling the numerous investors individually. ------------------------------------------ 👉हमसे फेसबुक में जुडें --https://m.facebook.com/PandeyVital/?ref=bookmarks ------------------------------------------------ | LIKE | SUBSCRIBE | SHARE | -------------------------------------------- Background music Credit- NirvanaVEVO by Chris Zabriskie is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://chriszabriskie.com/uvp/ Artist: http://chriszabriskie.com/

How To Transform Your Company Culture And Attract Brilliant Talent | Vishen Lakhiani
This speech received a standing ovation at Helsinki's 925 Festival of Work, and is probably the best investment of an hour of your time you can make today. If you want to learn more about how these methods transformed Mindvalley, you can go here: http://bit.ly/2t3OiHb This talk is very comprehensive covers in detail the science and psychology of "Designing Company Culture" that Mindvalley has used to grow to one of the largest personal growth companies in the world. Vishen Lakhiani started with $700. And built a company worth over $100 Million in valuation. And in all that time never had to raise venture capital, or take a bank loan, or get investors. Instead he just focused on building seriously great culture and attracting amazing talent. But the story is deeper than that. See, Mindvalley is not in Europe or Silicon Valley. It's in Malaysia. Although the company started in New York, Vishen had to return to his home country of Malaysia after the first year as he could not get a USA Visa. Forced to create his dream in Malaysia, a developing country, and facing Malaysia's brain drain problem, lack of world class universities, and lower wages, Vishen's initial fear turned to passion as he decided that he wanted to build 'The World's Greatest Workplace'. And do it in Kuala Lumpur despite the odds. Not just to attract talent from all around the world to Malaysia - but to also give hope to local entrepreneurs, that it "can be done here". Today Mindvalley employs some 150 people in Malaysia from 31+ different country. All of whom relocate to Kuala Lumpur to work for Mindvalley at it's gorgeous headquarters which has been listed in Inc as "Top Ten Coolest Workplaces in the World". Mindvalley is a business case study on corporate culture, talent development and more. It's well known not just for it's amazing rise without funding - but for the number of amazing talent that emerge from its employee base. In this presentation Vishen strips away the outer visage and shows the specific steps, scientific models and his 'consciousness engineering' process which he used to design Mindvalley culture. This speech is not just motivational but outlines specific steps to do to transform your company. It's all replicable. And any company can take these steps and apply it to their business. Audience tweets following the speech *** "Brilliant" "Inspirational Ideas" "Vishen Lakhiani is stunning" ""Freaking Awesome. I wish all Finnish CEOs would have been present."" "This speech should be shown in every company, all over the world." Enjoy and share. How to attract angel investors
Welcome to another episode of Funding Simplified, where I simplify the business funding process and share lessons I have learned after being involved in over $500M in debt or equity deals. In today’s episode, I wanted to talk about how to attract angel investors.   There are many things that angel investors look for in a startup opportunity. But among those things, there are a few that are more powerful than the others.   Here are just three things that can help you attract angel investors.   A team   Not just any team, but a real experienced team. In fact, if at all possible, having someone on your team that has been in the startup industry for a while and has had success (i.e. has sold a startup before) goes a long way in attracting angel investors. If your team doesn’t have that level of startup experience or any at all, that is ok. Maybe you have a lot of domain or industry experience that you can lean on to help you be successful.    One thing I don’t recommend is the lone employee approach. Investors often frown on a lack of teammates. That is because it is unlikely that you can do everything or that you have every skill set needed to successfully run your business.   An addressable market   Opinions vary on the most common reason startups fail. Reasons like a lack of funding or an inexperienced team are common. Another common reason is that your idea didn’t really have a market to address where there was enough demand. Which is something you should have uncovered in your validation efforts?   On the other hand, when you can prove that the market is demanding a solution like your’s and they are willing to pay for it then you are off to a good startup with investors.   IP   Not every investor requires that a startup they fund has intellectual property. However, the investors I know really well love startups that do have intellectual property protection in place. That is because it makes your startup harder to copy and affords both you and the investor some protection or barriers to entry.   Join my online community at JonathanMillsPatrick.com or connect with me on social media at: https://twitter.com/jmillspatrick https://facebook.com/JonathanMillsPatrickcom https://instagram.com/JonathanMillsPatrickcom Finally, if you'd like to learn more FREE resources on funding a business head to http://jonathanmillspatrick.com/free-resources/

How to Attract Real Estate Investors for Property Management Companies
Often times, when we speak with property management clients on their ideal client, they are investors who own multiple rental properties. It's an attractive customer type to keep in your portfolio as investors usually: Are more hands-off Have more money to spend And detach themselves emotionally from their property. For today's interview, we have the pleasure in bringing in Douglas Skipworth, CPA, CFA, and Broker/Owner of CrestCore Realty in Memphis. Douglas owns hundreds of rentals and CrestCore manages thousands more. He’ll be speaking at the Property Management Grow Summit in January of 2017, where he’ll talk extensively on how to attract more real estate investor clients to your property management business. But right now, Douglas will share with us three key strategies, so property managers can start thinking about what they need to do to attract investors. First Strategy: Education Providing education is the first step in attracting investor clients. When you provide education, investors will see you as the go-to for any rental property news and will trust your word over the advice of others. This includes general content creation through: Social media Blog posts Articles Videos Or live demonstrations. CrestCore takes advantage of every opportunity to be a thought leader and put information out there by hosting basic investor classes. The classes are free and investors can learn some general high-level introductory topics on investing, and it works well for the novice or the expert. Attract Real Estate Investors Source: CrestCore Facebook Page CrestCore embraced the idea of a "mastermind group" that enables them to share ideas and push education and it has helped them in attracting real estate investor clients. Second Strategy: Consultation According to Douglas, you can impress from afar, but you influence from up close and that is what we get with our second strategy, consultation. This is where you roll up your sleeves and work with individual investors on their needs. Your strategy here will depend on the investor’s specific properties, what they’re looking for, and whether they are a new buyer or they already own one or more properties. Most of the time, investors need reassurance and guidance in addition to property management. Be prepared to work with a real estate investor and counsel them how to finance a rental properly for maximum return - so it does help if you have a bit of a financial background. Another thing you can provide as a property manager is leveraging your contacts, and introducing your investors to reputable lawyers, vendors, and bank contacts. CrestCore appeals property taxes and does anything they can to make properties cash flow for the investor on an individual basis. Third Strategy: Validation The last strategy is to provide validation. If you are a property manager and you are looking to genuinely improve yourself in your trade, you need to invest in property yourself. This will allow you to be able to walk in the investor’s shoes. You need to have the empathy, camaraderie, and the knowledge of what investors are going through. You can talk about your experiences dealing with bad tenants in your own properties, or what you've had to do as a landlord when a water heater went out or a tree fell on your roof. The validation of being investors yourselves attracts more and more investors to your management company. They know you’re an expert. Most of the property managers CrestCore comes across are not investors. So this is something that will set you apart. As Douglas says, "We are better property managers because we're investors, and we are better investors because we’re property managers." To attract more investor clients to your property management business, you need education, consultation, and validation. This isPM Grow Summit just a preview of what Douglas will be sharing with us at the Property Management Grow Summit, where he will give you the complete roadmap on being the company of choice for investor leads in your community.
