But there’s confusion about what they mean. These three words have also been weaponized. People often use these three words to attack and marginalize others. People misuse these three words. They conflate them with other words. For example, often people seamlessly interchange communism and totalitarianism, or capitalism and fascism, as if they mean the exact same thing. Alright, let’s look up the definition of capitalism and put that up on the screen. Capitalism: an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market Ok, so let’s break this down. First of all, it says “economic system,” meaning a way resources get around and trade stuff. By private or corporate ownership...ok let’s just say private ownership of capital goods. Ok, what are capital goods? Goods used to make other goods. Alright...let’s go on. By investments...so basically folks trying to get rich that are determined by private decision, prices, production and distribution of goods determined by competition in a free market….ok let’s simplify that. Folks trying to get rich by competing with each other. Everything else is implied, isn’t it? If you are competing in a free market, there is no government stopping you when trying to make money. You are making decisions on prices, production, and distribution in order to make a profit, and you are competing with others for customers. This is capitalism. Socialism: a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory. (Ok well we don’t have to go over this definition, do we?) (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles. So first, it’s a theory OR a system. Why is socialism considered a theory and capitalism not? Probably because it’s never been fully practiced. But it is another economic system. But instead of private or corporate ownership we are talking about the community as a whole as the owners. With capitalism, it’s about owning capital goods. But with socialism, it’s about owning the production, distribution, land, everything...and everyone owns that. The community as a whole makes economic decisions, not the individual. Based on that definition, have we ever had that? No, not really, not since farming became a thing at least. Now, that third definition is the historical definition of socialism, and often leads to even more confusion about what socialism actually means. Marxist theory? Yeah, socialism, even though it had origins throughout human history, was first articulated by two dudes named Karl Marx and . Get it? MARXist because it was named after him? To this day, Engels is still mad it’s called Marxism and not Engelism, by the way. Anyway, the two criticized capitalism and said it would eventually be overthrown by a new economic system, aka socialism, and eventually communism. Socialism was just a transition from capitalism to communism. Marx and Engels said socialism would consist of everybody owning the means of production, and that the workers would control and manage it.

SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. An individual development plan, or IDP, is a document completed by individual for the plan of self-development over the next period, usually one year. This plan is then reviewed and discussed by supervision to match the individual goals with company goals. They also discuss various options and approaches to achieve the plan. At the end of one year (or other time period) this plan is reviewed to see how many goals are fulfilled and what are the new goals and plans for the next year. Contents of the IDP can vary. Some employees focus on fixing weaknesses. Others focus on playing to their strengths. Some focus on short-term goals and development, other on the long-term. One key component to any good IDP is that the employee feels total ownership of the content. It's generally regarded a bad practice to write "what the boss wants to hear".

What is Economics?

02:55
http://economicsdetective.com/ The typical first-year student walks into his first economics class with very little idea of what economics is. He might have heard something like, "economics is the study of money", or "economics is another word for accounting", or "economics is hard, don't take that class", but none of those are true. "Economics is the study of the use of scarce resources that have alternative uses." That's the classic definition of economics. Basically, there are people, and people need resources to fulfil their desires. These resources cannot be infinite, but the desires can be, so people need to make choices about how to use their scarce resources. Economists study these choices. All economic questions fall into one of two categories: positive and normative. Positive economics describes "what is" and normative economics argues for what ought to be, so a question like, "why do people use money?" is a positive question and "should people use money?" is a normative question. A general rule of thumb is that if your economic model has no value judgements, it's positive economics, and if it does have value judgements it's normative economics, since to tell someone what he ought to do, you first have to judge what is best for him. Economics is also divided into microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics studies the behaviour of individual agents and markets, while macroeconomics studies the behaviour of the entire economy. Economists also have their own branch of statistics called "econometrics" that's specialized to analyzing economic data. Since economic data usually comes from the real world, and not from controlled experiments, econometrics faces mathematical challenges that other fields might not. The tools economists have developed to study human behaviour have broad uses outside of what we would traditionally consider economics. Economists study not only markets, but things like crime, war, the family, religion, culture, politics, law, and even genetics. That's why it's not unusual to see papers by psychologists, sociologists, criminologists, political scientists, anthropologists, biologists, neuroscientists, or legal scholars being co-authored by economists.

Neoliberalism: Individual Responsibility

06:19
I'm Dr. Nicholas Herriman, lecturer in anthropology at La Trobe University. This presentation is looks at one aspect of neoliberalism. It is intended for anthropology undergrads. Many accounts focus on neoliberalism as set of economic policies (for minimal state intervention in the market) with predictable effects. Different anthropologists use the concept of "neoliberalism" differently. For some anthropologists, "neoliberalism" also implies that people are individuals, who only need to be armed with sufficient information and resources, to make correct and efficient choices in their lives. Anthropologists tend to critique neoliberalism in practice. One reason for this this that anthropologists believe that certain political, economic, etc. structures make free choices limited, to say the least. Anthropologists also question whether efficiency is a true marker of value. What is INDIVIDUAL RECLAMATION? What does INDIVIDUAL RECLAMATION mean?

02:49
What is INDIVIDUAL RECLAMATION? What does INDIVIDUAL RECLAMATION mean? INDIVIDUAL RECLAMATION meaning - INDIVIDUAL RECLAMATION definition - INDIVIDUAL RECLAMATION explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Individual reclamation (French: reprise individuelle) is a form of direct action, characterized by the individual theft of resources from the rich by the poor. Individual reclamation gained popular attention in the early 20th century as a result of the exploits of anarchists and outsiders such as Ravachol and Clément Duval who believed that such expropriations were ethical because of the exploitation of society by capitalists (see Anti-capitalism). Advocacy centered on France, Belgium, Great Britain and Switzerland. In 1840, Pierre Joseph Proudhon, a French anarchist, wrote What Is Property?, a question to which he famously answered "property is theft". By this, Proudhon meant that legitimate private property could result only from an individual's labor and all other capital was, in effect, stolen. This economic world view converged in the minds of radicals with the Russian theorist Mikhail Bakunin's concept of propaganda of the deed, the use of physical violence against political enemies as a method of inspiring the masses. A marginal sector of European individualist anarchism derived the idea of individual reclamation as a means of breaking down what they perceived as the robbery of the laboring class by capitalists, politicians and the church. The individual's expropriation was regarded as legitimate resistance against an unfair social order, an ethical right to even the distribution of wealth. Well-known 19th century practitioners of individual reclamation included Ravachol and Clément Duval. A later generation of European anarchists, influenced by the anti-essentialism of Max Stirner, would eventually abandon the ethical framing of individual reclamation, proposing an ideology of illegalism and openly embracing criminality as a lifestyle. The most famous of these practitioners included the infamous Bonnot Gang of France. In the 20th century, Lucio Urtubia, a Spanish practitioner of individual reclamation, stole millions from Citibank by forging traveler's checks. Between 1993 and 2007, Jaime Giménez Arbe robbed 36 banks in Spain, stealing more than €700,000 euros in what he described as an effort "to liberate the Spanish people" from the banking sector.

And as a bonus, your going to get some recommendations on supplementary exercises for your shoulders, triceps, etc. that you can use at the end of this routine. Now, before we dive into the exact chest workout routine at home for men, we need to first answer this fundamental question. What makes this the best chest workout routine for men to do at home? Great question and the answer comes down these 3 fundamentals. #1 Minimal Equipment This one's pretty obvious. When looking at the best at home workouts, we need to keep the equipment load as light as possible, really no more than a bench and some dumbbells. Barbells can be useful as well, but they have less variety in terms of use and dumbbells are actually much safer on our joints. #2 Well Rounded Exercises The key to any great muscle building routine, especially when working on a single muscle group, is stacking exercises that complement each other. In other words, exercises that target different areas of that muscle group for a well-rounded workout. And as you’ll discover in this video, each of the three chest exercises in this at home workout is specifically designed to target the three different areas of the pectoralis major (main chest muscle). #3 Using the Most Effective Exercises This is a no-brainer, right? Of course, we want to use the best exercises in the best chest workout. But I bring this up because a lot of guys don’t know about the best way to determine what the best exercises actually are. Using science. These exercises I picked for this best chest workout are based on EMG studies that show the maximum muscle activation for each motion. These were at the top of the chest class. So, we got some of the theory behind the best chest workout for men to do at home out of the way. Now, let’s dive into the form tutorials and full demonstration of this chest workout. Labor Markets and Minimum Wage: Crash Course Economics #28

10:38
How much should you get paid for your job? Well, that depends on a lot of factors. Your skill set, the demand for the skills you have, and what other people are getting paid around you all factor in. In a lot of ways, labor markets work on supply and demand, just like many of the markets we talk about in Crash Course Econ. But, again, there aren't a lot of pure, true markets in the world. There are all kinds of oddities and regulations that change the way labor markets work. One common (and kind of controversial one) is the minimum wage. The minimum wage has potential upsides and downsides, and we'll take a look at the various arguments for an against it. Crash Course is on Patreon! Performance Reviews | Performance Evaluations & Appraisal

02:47
Learn about Different Types of Employee Performance Evaluations How to Conduct an Employee Performance Review or Appraisal http://turnkeydoc.com/human-resources/performance-management/performance-reviews/ An employee performance appraisal, performance evaluation or performance review as it is sometimes called, is a review by a manager where the employee's work performance is evaluated and strengths and weaknesses are identified, so that the employee knows where improvement is needed. Employee performance Reviews, Appraisals and Evaluations are vital for communication. Over the years there have been some new types of performance reviews, performance evaluation, or performance appraisals that are being met with success in today's business world. These require that employee performance evaluations, performance reviews or performance appraisals be done not only for raises, promotions, or bonuses, but for an employee's growth and development. These include: Management by Objectives Review: This method, often called MBO, measures the employee's accomplishments against a clearly established set of objectives. If managers and employees begin the year by working together to list these objectives, the end-of-year performance appraisal, performance review, or performance evaluation can simply compare each goal with its final outcome. This method is simple, clear, and empowers employees in the goal setting process but it disregards non-goal-related success metrics. Ratings Scale is probably the most common review type. Using this method, a supervisor rates an employee on a numerical scale for a defined set of behaviors, traits, competencies, or completed projects. This method gains points for simplicity and functionality, but it only works well if both managers and employees share the same understanding of each point on the scale. The 360 Degree Feedback Review is a new kind of employee performance review, performance appraisal, or performance evaluation. It incorporates data from peers, supervisors and even outside parties like customers and suppliers. This broad feedback can provide a multi-dimensional picture of performance that can cancel the influence of bias. The goal is to paint an accurate picture of employee's strengths and weaknesses. Gathering feedback from multiple sources is a great way to ensure employees are rated fairly and accurately No matter which type of employee performance evaluation, performance review or performance appraisal is used, remember the goal is to foster communication between managers and employees. To make your employee performance reviews, performance appraisal, or performance evaluation as productive as possible, try the following steps • Be prepared • Lead with the positive • Don't be confrontational • Keep it Simple • Be consistent • Make it a two-way conversation • Address what's important to the employee • Discuss work/life balance • Be a good listener • Give Feedback Regularly To download the review templates mentioned in this video as well as a guide on how to conduct the actual employee performance review, performance evaluation or performance appraisal, visit us at www.turnkeydoc.com Subscribe to our youtube channel to sample our "how to" video library or visit us at www.turnkeydoc.com to download your free gift! http://youtu.be/KcGhX7Htk9U Google Plus: https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/107057463999675049074/107057463999675049074/about Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Turn-Key-Doc/298240720333688 Twitter: https://twitter.com/turnkeydoc/ Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8LlHO8tJf-w-BmhdJobdCw Employee Performance Review Employee Performance Appraisal Employee Performance Evaluation Performance Review Performance Appraisal Performance Evaluation

Does Individual Liberty Threaten Community? | Learn Liberty

03:20
Libertarianism Explained: Does individual liberty threaten community? Some think that it does. Learn More: https://www.learnliberty.org/ As philosophy professor James Otteson explains, some worry that individual liberty undermines moral community, while others worry that it neglects those most vulnerable in a community, such as the poor. But Otteson cautions against thinking this way, for several reasons. As he explains, to take away individual liberty is to take away freedom of association, which interferes not only with autonomy, but with the actual creation of robust and meaningful communities. While freedom of association means that some people will make choices we don't like, and that some communities will decline over time, it also allows for the creation of new and different communities which evolve as their members freely choose to be a part of them. Globalization I - The Upside: Crash Course World History #41

11:51
In which John Green teaches you about globalization, a subject so epic, so, um, global, it requires two videos. In this video, John follows the surprisingly complex path of t-shirt as it criss-crosses the world before coming to rest on your doorstep, and eventually in your dresser. (Unless you're one of those people who never puts their laundry away and lives out of a laundry basket. If that's the case, shame on you.) Anyway, the story of the t-shirt and its manufacture in far-flung places like China, Guatemala, and India is a microcosm of what's going on in the global economy. Globalization is a bit of a mixed bag, and there have definitely been winners and losers along the way. In this episode John will talk about some of the benefits that have come along with it. Next week, he'll get into some of the less-positive side effects of globalization. Also, you should turn on the captions. Stop Wasting Energy On These 3 Undeniable Energy Wasters

07:44
Energy and attention are a finite resource. They run out easily. Energy and attention are directly funded by the amount of sleep and rest an individual gets, both of which are notoriously thin in today’s world. This is why most people will never be successful; most people’s lives are set up to drain energy and attention. --- This was initially published as an article on Medium.com by Anthony Moore: https://fityourself.club/stop-wasting-energy-on-these-3-undeniable-energy-wasters-adad783d0ebc Author: Anthony Moore | http://stuffgradslike.com --- Further information: Why Most People Will Never Be Successful: https://medium.com/thrive-global/why-most-people-will-never-be-successful-5e48d9cbaa0e Deep Work by Cal Newport: https://www.amazon.com/Deep-Work-Focused-Success-Distracted/dp/1455586692 Notes on Deep Work: https://sivers.org/book/DeepWork --- FB: https://www.facebook.com/ArtOfImprovement Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheArtOfImprove Insta: https://www.instagram.com/art.of.improvement

What is Individual Employee Performance | Hindi - Urdu

07:15
Many organizations claim that “employees are our greatest asset” but give little thought to how to get the most from those assets. Furthermore, although an enterprise will want to design and implement an approach to managing people that will help to ensure that they are a source of sustainable competitive advantage collectively, it must also be flexible enough to get the most out of every single individual. In practice, this means that to be effective, a performance management system must both motivate the high-performing individual to want to stay with the enterprise and continue to give of their best and deal quickly and appropriately with the low-performing individual, who needs to do better or move on. Of course, it must also deal with all the employees in-between these two extremes (the so-called “mediocre middle”) and this usually creates its own set of challenges. The Speaking test is recorded. There are three parts to the test, and each part follows a specific pattern of tasks in order to test your speaking ability in different ways. Marking Certificated IELTS examiners assess your speaking performance throughout the test. There are four assessment criteria (things which the examiner thinks about when deciding what score to give you): Fluency and coherence Lexical resource Grammatical range and accuracy Pronunciation. Fluency and coherence assesses how well you can speak at a normal speed without too much hesitation. It also includes putting your sentences and ideas in a logical order and using cohesive devices (including linking words, pronouns and conjunctions, etc.) appropriately so that what you say is not difficult to follow. Lexical resource assesses the range of vocabulary you use and how accurately and appropriately you use vocabulary to express meaning. It also includes the ability to express yourself using alternative vocabulary when you don’t know a particular word. Grammatical range and accuracy assesses the range of grammar you use and how accurately and appropriately you use it. Pronunciation assesses your ability to speak in a way which can be understood without too much effort. Summary Time allowed: 11–14 minutes Number of parts: 3 Parts 1–3 Part 1 – Introduction and interview What’s involved? In this part, the examiner introduces him/herself and checks your identity. Then the examiner asks you general questions on some familiar topics, such as home, family, work, studies or interests. Part 1 is 4–5 minutes long. What skills are tested? This part tests your ability to give opinions and information on everyday topics and common experiences or situations by answering a range of questions. Part 2 – Long turn What’s involved? Part 2 is the individual long turn. The examiner gives you a task card which asks you to talk about a particular topic. The card tells you what points you should include in your talk and instructs you to explain one aspect of the topic. You have one minute to prepare your talk, and the examiner will give you a pencil and paper to make notes. By using the points on the task card and making notes during the preparation time, you should be able to think of appropriate things to say, and have time to structure your talk so that you keep talking for 2 minutes. The examiner will then ask you to begin talking and will stop you when the time is up. They may then ask you one or two questions on the same topic. Part 2 lasts 3–4 minutes, including the preparation time. What skills are tested? This part tests your ability to speak at length on a given topic, using appropriate language and organising your ideas logically. You will need to think about your own experiences to complete the long turn. Part 3 – Discussion What’s involved? In Part 3, you and the examiner discuss issues related to the topic in Part 2 in a more general and abstract way and, where appropriate, in greater depth. Part 3 lasts 4–5 minutes. What skills are tested? This part tests your ability to explain your opinions and to analyse, discuss and speculate about issues

The Ideal Gas Law: Crash Course Chemistry #12

09:03
Gases are everywhere, and this is good news and bad news for chemists. The good news: when they are behaving themselves, it's extremely easy to describe their behavior theoretically, experimentally and mathematically. The bad news is they almost never behave themselves. In this episode of Crash Course Chemistry, Hank tells how the work of some amazing thinkers combined to produce the Ideal Gas Law, how none of those people were Robert Boyle, and how the ideal gas equation allows you to find out pressure, volume, temperature or number of moles. You'll also get a quick introduction to a few jargon-y phrases to help you sound like you know what you're talking about. Learning styles & the importance of critical self-reflection | Tesia Marshik | TEDxUWLaCrosse

18:15
The belief in learning styles is so widespread, it is considered to be common sense. Few people ever challenge this belief, which has been deeply ingrained in our educational system. Teachers are routinely told that in order to be effective educators, they must identify & cater to individual students' learning styles; it is estimated that around 90% of students believe that they have a specific learning style but research suggests that learning styles don't actually exist! This presentation focuses on debunking this myth via research findings, explaining how/why the belief in learning styles is problematic, and examining the reasons why the belief persists despite the lack of evidence. Dr. Tesia Marshik is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Her research interests in educational psychology include student motivation, self-regulation, and teacher-student relationships. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

The Psychology of Burnout with Gerald Loren Fishkin

27:38
Gerald Loren Fishkin, PhD, is a clinical psychologist. He is author of The Science of Shame and Its Treatment. He is also author of American Dream, American Burnout; Police Burnout: Signs, Symptoms, and Solutions; and Firefighter and Paramedic Burnout: The Survival Guide. Here he points out that burnout occurs when an individual becomes completely depleted of emotional resources. This often happens when traumatic experiences occur in the workplace, and are not processed thereafter. It may also result from working conditions that appear to lack meaning and/or soulfulness. Individuals in the helping professions are vulnerable, particularly when they hold unrealistic expectations for the rewards of their job. Fishkin discusses situations in which burnout can lead to violent behaviors. New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration. He is also past-president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people are encouraged to cultivate and apply their inner, intuitive abilities.
