Implementing Successful Data Strategies – Developing Organizational Readiness and Framework
Big Data projects have been about as successful as other IT projects – about 29% successful according to the 2015 Standish Group Chaos Report. Second, Data Scientists are generally assessed to be about 20% productive. The reason for both of these dismal statistics is simple—organizations are terrible about understanding how to use data as a strategic organizational resource. In fact, considering the data is our sole, non-depletable, non-degrading, durable strategic asset, it is really mind boggling how poorly it is managed. Having an actionable data strategy is the first, most critical step in exerting positive control over data and leveraging it in support of your organization’s business strategy. This talk will simply describe: What a data strategy is and its key component pieces How to align your data strategy with your organization’s strategic imperatives while recognizing the constraints of current state capabilities; and How to develop actionable roadmaps that will add value to the organization’s ability to leverage and monetize its data most effectively. Once understood, your organization will be better positioned to support its mission and take advantage of new and existing data sources while complying with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

What is Strategy Implementation? A Quick Overview
http://www.boblegge.com Most strategies fail to achieve their objectives. The problem is rarely the strategy and usually a weak implementation. Successful implementation requires far more than an action plan, t-shirts, and coffee mugs. Here's what it takes to successfully launch a strategy.

How to Build Rapport With Secondary Students - Classroom Control Strategy
Dealing with a Disruptive Class: This is a response video to a teacher meme shared via Facebook. The original video (and credit) may be found below. The clip was shortened to allow me to discuss what I had read in the Facebook comments section. I share this based on my experience as a teacher who left the classroom for a few years as a district-science instructional specialist and high school assistant principal, before turning to the classroom. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Original Meme: Teachers trying to quiet down their class https://www.facebook.com/boredteachers/videos/1583027178381802/ @MrNicholasFerroni https://www.facebook.com/MrNicholasFerroni/ @Boredteachers https://www.facebook.com/boredteachers/ ________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ Facebook @bondwithjames https://www.facebook.com/bondwithjames Instagram @bondwithjames https://www.instagram.com/bondwithjames Pinterest @bondwithjames https://www.pinterest.com/bondwithjames __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Classroom Control - Building Rapport With Secondary Students to Avoid A Disruptive Classroom In this video, James of Bond with James, addresses classroom management in the high school classroom with strategies that he has employed over the years (the classroom management strategies may be applicable to the middle school classroom as well). The video meme highlights a teacher who is struggling with a disruptive classroom. While the video is a meme to highlight was teachers experience at least once in their teaching careers, the ability to ensure effective classroom control is important. Sometimes, a noisy classroom might be due to a teacher failing to implement effective classroom management techniques and inconsistently implementing classroom discipline strategies. Sometimes, it might build as simple as building relationships with students. Or, it could just be a difficult class for even the most seasoned teacher that is struggling with implementing behavior management strategies that have worked for him/her in the past (James briefly speaks about one of his class periods that he has to put a lot of time and energy into managing disruptive students). __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ *Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. 7 Strategies for Overcoming Resistance to Change
Originally posted: http://forwardfocusinc.com/inspire-leaders/7-strategies-for-overcoming-resistance-to-change-in-the-workplace/ Recently I discussed the challenges and attributes of high performing teams. In modern organizations with flatter hierarchical structures, these high impact teams are smaller, more agile, and themselves structured to benefit from individual specialization without regard for a ‘pecking order’. Even though these teams are designed to provide maximum flexibility in a constantly changing environment, it is likely that an organization will still experience resistance to change. Overcoming resistance to change in the workplace doesn’t have to be a constant battle. Even though change is ever present, both in the market and within organizations transition does not need to be a struggle, especially regarding those that will help the team in the long run. With a forward looking and proactive strategy, resistance to change is first reduced and then eliminated. 7 things to do to eliminate resistance to change Leadership is an organizational imperative when managing change, and leaders who inspire a cultural shift in their staff have the greatest success in managing change. In a 2013 PwC survey, nearly two thirds of staff surveyed felt that a top leader is in charge of change management and almost half felt that top leaders should be in charge of cultural change. The good news here is that the same number of people who felt that cultural change is also their responsibility. The bad news is that only 14% saw any responsibility for change management falling on their shoulders. The harsh reality is that effective change is determined by having in place a corporate culture conducive to change. It is here that inspirational leadership in flat hierarchical structures is, perhaps, at its most potent. Here are seven strategies for overcoming resistance to change in the workplace: 1. Structure the team to maximize its potential Give team members appropriate roles and responsibilities that use skills to their best advantage, while also providing the potential for personal and team development. 2. Set challenging, achievable, and engaging targets Be clear in guidance about goals and targets. Break change projects into smaller milestones, and celebrate achievements. Goals should be seen as progressive and in line with values and beliefs. 3. Resolve conflicts quickly and effectively Utilize the seven methods of care-fronting to regulate and control communicative breakdowns. Encourage openness and honesty and engender an environment of mutual trust and respect. 4. Show passion Communicate passionately and be an example of belief in the future vision. When other people see leaders’ behaviors emulating those required by change, they more quickly come into line with the new behaviors and become change advocates themselves. 5. Be persuasive Engage employees in change by being an energized leader. Focus on opportunities and persuade rather than assert authority. Share experiences as you persuade change through stories that focus on positive change. 6. Empower innovation and creativity Give opportunities for feedback and remain flexible as you alter course toward your change goals. Encourage people to be creative, discover solutions to unfolding problems, and to become part of the change process. The process is difficult for everyone involved, and your team will be more invested with solutions they have created themselves, rather than those dictated to them. 7. Remain positive and supportive People find change unsettling, even though change is a constant in personal lives as well as professional environments. They will need the support of a positive leader who inspires free thought, honest communication, and creativity as personal and team development is encouraged. Employees expect leaders to manage change. Inspirational leaders create a culture where change becomes the responsibility of all. Contact Forward Focus today to discuss our Management Development Series, including our Energy Leadership Program that helps develop high performing managers into inspirational leaders.

Marketing Series Chapter Nineteen, Implementing and Controlling Marketing Plans
Kunalsharma.net - Like, Share, Subscribe for More! Marketing Defined (Wikipedia) - "Marketing is a widely used term to describe the means of communication between the company and the consumer audience. Marketing is the adaptation of the commercial activities and use of institutions by the organizations with a purpose to induce behavioral change on a short-term or permanent basis.[1] The American Marketing Association most recently defined Marketing as "the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large." [2] The techniques used in marketing include choosing target markets through market analysis and market segmentation, as well as understanding methods of influence on the consumer behavior. The marketing planning creates strategies for the company to place advertising to the dedicated consumer. From a societal point of view, marketing provides the link between a society's material requirements and its economic patterns of response. This way marketing satisfies these needs and wants through the development of exchange processes and the building of long-term relationships. In the case of nonprofit organization marketing, the aim is to increase the deliver an ethos message about the organization's services to the applicable audience. Governments often employ marketing to communicate messages with a social purpose, such as a public health or safety message, to citizens."

Manufacturing: Push or Pull? - Whiteboard Wednesday
Learn more at: http://www.fishbowlinventory.com/quick-tour/. Push or pull? It's a fundamental question for manufacturers. Pushing is a manufacturing method that emphasizes storing a lot of products in order to have them ready to push to customers at a moment's notice. This results in high carrying costs and potentially more unusable inventory as it passes its expiration date. Pulling is more efficient than pushing. It emphasizes JIT (Just In Time) shipping and only ordering parts and products when customer orders come in. This cuts down on carrying costs and leads to a more streamlined operation. It is slower than the push method, so there is a trade-off. Fishbowl's Whiteboard Wednesday videos break down important inventory management topics in a couple of minutes. Fishbowl is the producers of the No. 1 manufacturing and warehouse management software for QuickBooks users.

What is STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT? What does STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT mean? STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT meaning - STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT definition - STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Strategic management involves the formulation and implementation of the major goals and initiatives taken by a company's top management on behalf of owners, based on consideration of resources and an assessment of the internal and external environments in which the organization competes. Strategic management provides overall direction to the enterprise and involves specifying the organization's objectives, developing policies and plans designed to achieve these objectives, and then allocating resources to implement the plans. Academics and practicing managers have developed numerous models and frameworks to assist in strategic decision making in the context of complex environments and competitive dynamics. Strategic management is not static in nature; the models often include a feedback loop to monitor execution and inform the next round of planning. Michael Porter identifies three principles underlying strategy: creating a "unique and valuable position", making trade-offs by choosing "what not to do", and creating "fit" by aligning company activities with one another to support the chosen strategy. Dr. Vladimir Kvint defines strategy as "a system of finding, formulating, and developing a doctrine that will ensure long-term success if followed faithfully." Corporate strategy involves answering a key question from a portfolio perspective: "What business should we be in?" Business strategy involves answering the question: "How shall we compete in this business?" In management theory and practice, a further distinction is often made between strategic management and operational management. Operational management is concerned primarily with improving efficiency and controlling costs within the boundaries set by the organization's strategy. Strategic management involves the formulation and implementation of the major goals and initiatives taken by a company's top management on behalf of owners, based on consideration of resources and an assessment of the internal and external environments in which the organization competes. Strategy is defined as "the determination of the basic long-term goals of an enterprise, and the adoption of courses of action and the allocation of resources necessary for carrying out these goals." Strategies are established to set direction, focus effort, define or clarify the organization, and provide consistency or guidance in response to the environment. Strategic management involves the related concepts of strategic planning and strategic thinking. Strategic planning is analytical in nature and refers to formalized procedures to produce the data and analyses used as inputs for strategic thinking, which synthesizes the data resulting in the strategy. Strategic planning may also refer to control mechanisms used to implement the strategy once it is determined. In other words, strategic planning happens around the strategic thinking or strategy making activity. Strategic management is often described as involving two major processes: formulation and implementation of strategy. While described sequentially below, in practice the two processes are iterative and each provides input for the other.

Top 10 Proven Classroom Management Tips for Teachers
Tweet this Video: http://clicktotweet.com/UfFee http://www.ampli.com/ Like us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/AmplivoxPortableSoundSystemsandLecterns Classroom management Definition: "A term used by teachers to describe the process of ensuring that classroom lessons run smoothly despite disruptive behavior by students." Listed below are several techniques, ideas, resources, and tips for teachers to hone the right skills to conquer their classroom: 1. Start the year tough. Many teachers make the mistake of starting the school year with a poor discipline plan or without any classroom management plan at all. It is so much easier to start tough and then lighten up, then to start light and discipline more. At the beginning of the year, students quickly assess the situation and realize what they will be allowed to get away with. Starting the year tough will give you control and flexibility. 2. Be fair to all students. 3. Be prepared for disruptions---and don't let them phase you. Students often amplify their teacher's reaction to disruptions—be ready for them and be ready to calmly and quickly pick up where you left off. Having a joke or interesting comment ready to bring attention back to you will allow you to transition back to the material. 4. Instill high expectations 5. Incentivize good behavior. Motivating students though rewards like no homework, watching a video, ice cream, or free-activity time can help students by giving them a goal. This can also help students hold each other accountable to class goals and stigmatize negative behavior even more. 6. Overplan. 7. Have a clearly expressed disciplinary plan...with consequences! Make sure students know the disciplinary ladder well. Any hint of ambiguity can leave a loophole for excuses (and students are great at making excuses!). Warn students when they are close to breaking a rule so there will be no ambiguity when that line is crossed. If you constantly raise your voice to get the attention of the class, consider investing in a classroom amplification system which can save your voice by projecting it. The iPod Portable PA system is a great system for classrooms because it features an iPod dock that simultaneously plays and charges your iPod and also has outputs for a projector. 8. Focus on relationships. A teacher than can connect positively with their students will make students behave and easier to manage because students will regard the teacher much like a friend. Using positive reinforcement to build a positive reputation for the child gives the student confidence that their teacher believes in them and will make it harder to disappoint the teacher with bad behavior or work ethic. 9. Be careful about confrontation 10. Be patient and keep practicing. Don't worry if things don't go well right away...controlling your classroom is learn-able but will always be a challenge with some students. Whether you are teach a kindergarten class, at an elementary school, middle school, or high school, it is best to "Expect the Unexpected" and be ready for adversity! How To Implement Effective Credit Control Procedures In Your Business
This Video Explains How To Implement Effective Credit Control Procedures in Your Business Here is a link to the full article: http://howsmybusinessdoing.com/implementing-effective-credit-control-procedures-in-your-business/ I’m Niall Strickland – CEO of GrowthOracle Dot Com, HowsMyBusinessDoing Dot Com, and Niall Strickland Dot Com. For anyone that does not know me yet, I am a management expert who has developed a range of automated business assessment tools for business consultants or advisors as well as for Small & Medium business owners. Let’s start with a few questions. • Do you take credit control seriously in your business? • Do you use effective credit control techniques to minimize business risk? • Do you take a systematic and structured approach to assessing customers before deciding to grant or renew a credit limit for each of your customers? • Do you actively monitor your customers in relation to their payment performance? • Do you closely watch their performance in the market place and with other suppliers to give you an early warning of trouble coming down the tracks? • Do you take decisive action in relation to cutting off credit lines when you need to? Your answers to all of these questions will determine if your business is being put at risk or not. It’s all about how you run your credit control function. If you don’t offer credit to customers – great – then this article is not for you. Otherwise, read on and learn how the best companies implement effective credit control procedures and standards. Credit Control is a part of a business that often does not get the level of attention it deserves. Perhaps it lives somewher within your accounting function and the propeller heads take care of it. However, credit control is in fact the engine room of your operation, which generates the cash that pays for everything your business does. Without cash to pay your suppliers, your employees, and your overhead, your business will quickly wither and die. Profitable sales only become profitable when you are paid for them in a timely manner. Therefore, it is critical that your credit control function is run in an efficient and effective way. It is often a fine line to walk when you are trying to maximize sales revenue while minimizing credit risk associated with your sales. There are about half a dozen key functions carried out by a Credit Controller or a Credit Control Department and these are as follows: Firstly, the Credit Controller must obtain verifiable trade and/or credit checks when opening a new account for which you intend to put a credit limit in place. Secondly, The Credit Control Department needs to carry out its own assessment of the reputation and credit worthiness of the customer. This may involve seeking a copy of the customer’s financial statements as well as making discrete enquiries with other industry participants. Thirdly, it must agree firm payment terms with each individual customer in conjunction with the sales representative or relationship manager and these should be set out in writing and signed by your business and also by the customer. Where goods are being made available on credit, you should also include a “retention of title” clause in your sales documentation. Fourthly, once credit has been offered, it is imperative that regular reviews are carried out to ensure that each customer stays within agreed terms. Periodic reviews of customer credit worthiness are also an essential component of credit control, as circumstances and financial stability of your customers may change over time. This should include updating credit checks from time to time. A fifth element of credit control involves making timely decisions in relation to cutting off credit if and when payments start to fall behind. You can have an effective pest control marketing strategy using the bandwagon effect by letting your prospects know a bunch of their neighbors are already customers and are using your pest control services. Basically the bandwagon effect is when your prospect sees a bunch of people doing something they will want to do it too, like the old saying goes, “keeping up with the Joneses”. The bandwagon effect is a great way to get more customers and you should implement it in your pest control marketing strategy No one wants to be a guinea pig and be the first person to get started on something. Name dropping is an effective strategy to use when you are first approaching customers to build rapport and get the bandwagon effect started in a new area with your pest control marketing. You can use the bandwagon effect in your pest control marketing to build up customers who aren’t even experiencing pest control problems as more of a prevention package. You could say something to the effect of, “Your neighbors x,y,and z have gotten started on our services, so most of the people in your area are taking advantage of the discount we are offering right now, and setting up a prevention plan to keep the neighborhood free of pests, so we figured we would let you know so you wouldn’t be left out”.
