Asset Management: Industry Overview and Careers in Asset Management
Asset Management: Industry overview and Careers in Asset Management Asset Management is about managing clients’ investments and providing them with the strategies and expertise that would allow them to achieve their goals and secure their financial future. This video is part of our series dedicated to the different sub-industries in the world of Business & Finance. Our goal is to understand how it functions, what type of services it offers its clients, which are the major players in the field and what it is like to do this for a living. An individual or an institution is likely to approach an asset management firm when their investment income is substantial. In such cases, asset managers are able to offer expertise across a wide spectrum of asset classes (such as stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate, private equity, etc). Moreover, large firms have branches all over the world and are therefore able to offer geographical expertise as well. Given that asset managers closely follow all of these markets, they are able to offer high-quality advice and superior risk-return investments. The large players in the asset management industry are indeed very large. There are several companies whose assets under management exceed $1 trillion. Some of them are pure investment funds (BlackRock, Vanguard, StateStreet, Fidelity), while others are arms of the large banking conglomerates (Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, UBS, BNP). The largest firm in the world in terms of assets under management in 2015 was BlackRock. Was bedeutet Asset Management (deutsch)? Einfach erklärt (Immobilien Definitionen)
Was bedeutet Asset Management (deutsch)? What does an Asset Manager do?
You want to dive deep into the world of finance and management? Visit us: http://www.frankfurt-school.de/en/home/programmes.html?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=ACQUISITION Asset management is the administration of assets. Depending on the investor’s goals and their willingness to take risks, an asset manager compiles a portfolio. Security papers, that promise a high return are usually rather risky. A skilled asset manager thus should create a portfolio which balances out an appropriate level of risk with suitable returns. This task can be compared to the work a chef does when assembling a multiple course menu for his guests. The chef will purchase the necessary ingredients at a food market – the asset manager procures security papers from the capital market. He needs to consider and incorporate his client’s willingness to take risks – the chef on the other hand needs to cater to his guest’s tastes. Too little salt is just as detrimental as too much of it. While the chef is able to check his dishes by tasting them, the asset manager has to go to greater lengths to verify his portfolio. Possible returns as well as risks refer to the future. Here, complex political, economical or psychological factors have to be taken into account. Assessing these is what makes asset management interesting and challenging in the present, it’s results and quality may only be experienced in the future, though.

ITAM - What Is It? Introduction to IT Asset Management
https://www.sysaid.com/cookingit/what-is-it-asset-management With so many acronyms in the technological world, you may get tripped up on the latest term. ITAM is short for IT asset management. In layman's terms, it's a software program that helps you keep track of complaints, upgrades and system history. Explore the perks of this advancement as you wrangle dozens of computers at your company each day. Assets Mean Different Things: Assets are more than just the servers in a back room. Your company has software, hardware, chairs, desks, keyboards and other items that qualify as assets. All of these items go into IT asset management for control within the company. Identifying a User's Situation: ITAM includes incident management. A single user complains of an installation failure at his or her desk. You quickly look up the user's assigned assets in the system. This information tells you about disc space and other features. You discover that the person simply needs to free up some hard-drive space. The problem is solved in a matter of minutes. Pinpointing Patterns: Discovering patterns within hundreds of assets is difficult, but not with ITAM software. Problem management is simple when several users complain of the same issue. Look up the history on those assets to find a common denominator. A flawed, software update may be the culprit. Changes Implemented With Care: Changing any aspect of a company's hardware or software can come with multiple problems. Change management allows you to prepare for transitions by looking at OS versions and other features. If a handful of users are using different OS versions, deal with this issue before upgrading the entire company. The beauty of IT asset management is complex data housed on one platform. With one click on your computer mouse, you see the company's entire array of computers along with their warranties and ages. Manage depreciation, repairs and replacements through ITAM. It's built within the service program that you use for everyday computer problems. --- Check out SysAid’s help desk and ITSM software: https://www.sysaid.com/ Check us out on social: Twitter - https://twitter.com/sysaid and https://twitter.com/Joe_the_IT_guy Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/SysAidIT Google Plus - https://plus.google.com/+sysaid LinkedIn - http://www.linkedin.com/company/sysaid-technologies-ltd

What is an Asset? What is Asset Management?
An Asset can be a logo, brand, design, literature, trademark, patent…Anything that does or could have the potential to deliver value to stakeholders. Don’t be fooled into thinking that non-physical assets do not require maintenance. Maintenance preserves the function in which the asset was designed. If a logo isn’t as effective anymore then it could be time to make a change. If we consider a workforce as an asset (i.e. Human Capital) it is a great example of designing the organizational structure to satisfy capability and capacity. If we do not reinvest in the workforce they could become deskilled, lose morale or leave the business. They could become unsafe, non-compliant and risks could elevate at the expense of performance. If we do reinvest in the workforce by reassessing competencies and providing adequate training, we are aligning to good Asset Management practices. By considering a “whole of life” perspective of an Asset we are considering Asset Management. This video will explain in the simplest terms what an Asset is and what Asset Management is. If you're a Change Manager you need to understand Asset Management! For systematic trading (and that means fully automated machines) it was ensuring that the machines were executing the orders they were supposed to execute. Why Invest in Asset Management?
Is your municipality struggling to plan for growth, the effects of climate change and infrastructure updates? Learn how asset management planning and sustainability can help cities and towns of all sizes across Canada address these issues. First coined by Australian economist Dr. Penny Burns in 1984, the term "asset management" is now widely used in the municipal sector to focus on physical, rather than financial assets. "Infrastructure management" is sometimes used to mean the same thing. Municipal asset management can include all physical infrastructure assets managed by the municipality, including roads, bridges, water, wastewater, buildings, fleet, recreational facilities and equipment, natural assets, and public safety assets. There are significant social, environmental and economic gains to be made by helping to support municipal asset management practice in Canada. In applying it, communities across Canada will be better positioned to make their infrastructure dollars go further, with a lighter environmental footprint. Take five minutes to watch this video to see how asset management planning can help your community. http://www.fcm.ca/assetmanagement

Under the Hood of Asset Management for Multifamily Syndicators – With Drew Kniffin
In a perfect world, we could syndicate a multifamily property and then sit back and wait for the checks to roll in. But in the real world, we must oversee the apartment buildings we’ve purchased and make sure they perform according to plan. What all is involved in asset management? What is the best way to communicate with investors? And how does your property manager’s competence impact the amount of work that falls to you? Drew Kniffin is the President of Nighthawk Equity, a firm committed to helping real estate investors achieve financial freedom through practical education and high-quality multifamily investment opportunities. Drew became an ‘accidental landlord’ in 2008 when he was unable to sell his condo and rented it instead. But it wasn’t until 2015 that Drew shifted his focus to small apartment buildings. Eight months and three deals later, he was able to quit his job and pursue real estate full-time. Now, Drew helps manage a 1K-unit portfolio through Nighthawk, and he also serves as a mentor with The Michael Blank organization. Today, Drew joins me to share his definition of asset management and explain the syndicator’s role in finding problems to solve during the acquisition process. He describes the significance of a good property manager, discussing how to gauge if a property manager is the right fit, what you should expect from a property manager, and how replace a property manager if necessary. Drew also covers reporting, offering insight around the level of detail to expect from your property manager as well as the key performance indicators a syndicator should monitor. Listen in for Drew’s advice on communicating with investors and learn what aspects of asset management can be outsourced as you scale! http://www.themichaelblank.com/podcasts/session141/

HTL Capital: Making Big Data and AI work in investment management
Already 20 years ago Thanh-Long Huynh, CEO of HTL Capital, set up quantitative investment strategies for SocGen. Created in 2011, HTL Capital was specialized in traditional quantitative investment strategies before turning into an innovative asset manager based on Big Data Analytics. For this purpose, Thanh-Long created QuantCube Technology in 2013, an AI FinTech start-up specialized in macroeconomic and financial predictions based on alternative data. QuantCube recently closed a Series A funding round from Moody’s Corporation, Five Capital, the investment fund sponsored by CDC International Capital (Caisse des Dépôts Group) and Kingdom Holding Company from Saudi Arabia. Through Big Data analytics, QuantCube Technology can make highly accurate predictions of numerous future events in real-time, including the outcome of political elections, economic growth figures, price variation of commodities and fluctuation of stock markets. For instance, QuantCube accurately predicted the outcome of the Brexit vote and also (on November 3rd, 2016) a Trump win analyzing data from social networks. Clients include Central Bank of France and European Space Agency. For most cash equity applications, QuantCube has an exclusive relationship with HTL Capital whose AlphaNow Long Short Equity Fund is based on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data analytics. In this Opalesque.TV BACKSTAGE video, Thanh-Long Huynh and his team discuss: - HTL Capital's AlphaNow Long Short Equity Fund: Does it make money? - What are the new data sources and what are their advantages? - How is HTL Capital different from a traditional quantitative trading firm? - Investment philosophy: How to turn Big Data into an Alpha Portfolio of investment strategies? - What is Artificial Intelligence? - Applications and challenges in Natural Language Processing - Big Data and Compliance in investment management. Thanh-Long Huynh started his career in implementing quantitative investment strategies at Société Générale in New York in 1998. Thanh-Long graduated with MS Statistics from National School of Statistics in France, MS Financial Mathematics from the University of Chicago as a Fulbright scholar, MS Wealth Management from ESCP-Europe, CFA charterholder. He was a special lecturer at Sorbonne University in Risk Management from 2007 to 2013.

What does IT ASSET MANAGEMENT mean? IT ASSET MANAGEMENT meaning - IT ASSET MANAGEMENT definition - IT ASSET MANAGEMENT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. IT asset management (ITAM) is the set of business practices that join financial, contractual and inventory functions to support life cycle management and strategic decision making for the IT environment. Assets include all elements of software and hardware that are found in the business environment. IT asset management (also called IT inventory management) is an important part of an organization's strategy. It usually involves gathering detailed hardware and software inventory information which is then used to make decisions about hardware and software purchases and redistribution. IT inventory management helps organizations manage their systems more effectively and saves time and money by avoiding unnecessary asset purchases and promoting the harvesting of existing resources. Organizations that develop and maintain an effective IT asset management program further minimize the incremental risks and related costs of advancing IT portfolio infrastructure projects based on old, incomplete and/or less accurate information. Hardware asset management entails the management of the physical components of computers and computer networks, from acquisition through disposal. Common business practices include request and approval process, procurement management, life cycle management, redeployment and disposal management. A key component is capturing the financial information about the hardware life cycle which aids the organization in making business decisions based on meaningful and measurable financial objectives. Software Asset Management is a similar process, focusing on software assets, including licenses, versions and installed endpoints. The IT Asset Management function is the primary point of accountability for the life-cycle management of information technology assets throughout the organization. Included in this responsibility are development and maintenance of policies, standards, processes, systems and measurements that enable the organization to manage the IT Asset Portfolio with respect to risk, cost, control, IT Governance, compliance and business performance objectives as established by the business. IT Asset Management uses integrated software solutions that work with all departments that are involved in the procurement, deployment, management and expense reporting of IT assets. When assets need to be removed from the enterprise, they move through various disposition processes. Commonly they are handed over to an IT Asset Disposition vendor to be recycled or destroyed. Assets should be managed properly after going offline to ensure they do not get lost prior to reaching the vendor. The vendor of choice should then have secure procedures for tracking assets during the entire time of their possession. After proper disposal, the vendor provides a certificate of destruction with the serial numbers of assets they destroyed and recycled. The company should then verify the serial numbers on their certificate of destruction with the assets they know they handed over to the vendor. Tracking assets that are offline, prior to disposal, should be approached with the same efficiency and security as when those same assets are online. A good method for choosing a destruction vendor is to find a NAID certified company. They have a corporate responsibility to dispose of e-waste properly to ensure a healthy environment. Look into donation programs in your area.

The Truth About 401k Fees, Mutual Fund Fees, and Hidden Fees Explained - Part 1
Finding the truth about 401k fees, mutual fund fees, and hidden fees inside these vehicles can be nearly impossible. Unless you know where to look, most people can't answer the question of, how much are you paying in hidden fees? The problem is, understanding mutual fund fees and 401k fees can be nearly impossible. Let's look at some of the 401k hidden fees and do some digging into mutual fund fees and expenses explained in a way that makes sense. Until you can determine exactly what your fees are, it's hard to know exactly how much you are earning on your retirement savings, and if your 401k fees are too high to even make it worthwhile. --- Just about every day I talk to someone invested in mutual funds, a 401k, or with an advisor who is compensated by fees. I like to ask, what are you paying in fees? If I asked you that, what would be your answer? For the most part no one knows exactly what they pay in fees. Some have a ball park idea because their advisor told them he or she would be charging X percent to manage their money. But is that it? Mutual funds for instance have many hidden fees or costs. The fund’s management fee and these soft costs cannot be easily found nor are they openly disclosed. It has been reported that there are as many as 17 different fees and costs associated with a mutual fund. I’ve listed these fees and costs in detail in another video, so you might want to check it out. Many of you may have done some research on your mutual funds and saw a management fee that may show something like 1.5% or 2%. Thinking that’s it, you quit looking further. I get it, the other fees and costs are difficult to find. But the management fee may only be half costs. For the moment - Let’s assume that the mutual fund management fees were only 1% - Now what about your advisor? Or should I say, what about your “fiduciary?” This is the new title you are going to here more and more of. The title is supposed to tell you that as a fiduciary they are looking out for your best interests. Well, lets see how that works out as fiduciaries are supposed to charge fees. So let’s see how that works out for you. Have you heard the term “wrap fee?” That’s Wall Street Jargon for – wrapping a fee around a fee. If you are working with a fee based advisor or fiduciary – and they are buying mutual funds for you – then you are more than likely paying a wrap fee. Let’s suppose the fund charges 1% management fee, what the advisor does is wrap an additional fee for themselves around the mutual fund fees. Suppose that’s another 1%. How does that play out over time? Let’s do a little math here. Suppose we have 30 years to invest 100,000 and we get an 8% return (I know 8% is a stretch). On the outset, I realize this is a flawed calculation. Why? Because Wall Street does not go up in a perfect linear line, nor does the markets provide a consistent stable return each year. -------------------------------------------------------------- Please Subscribe! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNtQmqZlNUwzPuWmHPI_oSg?sub_confirmation=1 Visit me on the web- http://WiseMoneyTools.com/ Follow me!
