Articles (a, an, the) - Lesson 1 - 7 Rules For Using Articles Correctly - English Grammar

16:59
In this lesson, learn the 7 rules for using articles in English correctly. Also see - MOST COMMON MISTAKES IN ENGLISH & HOW TO AVOID THEM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dax90QyXgI&list=PLmwr9polMHwsR35rD9spEhjFUFa7QblF9 For more FREE English lessons, SUBSCRIBE to this channel. Transcript: Hello and welcome. In this lesson, I will teach you the seven rules that you need to know for using articles in English correctly. Articles are the words ‘a’, ‘an’, and ‘the’. There is a final quiz at the end of the lesson for you to test your understanding. OK, the first rule is about where to use ‘a’ and where to use ‘an’. So rule number one is use ‘a’ before a consonant sound, and ‘an’ before a vowel sound. So in all of these words – you see that they start with a consonant sound. Cat starts with /k/, dog starts with /d/, boy with /b/, girl with /g/, house with /h/ and tree with /t/. So we say ‘a cat’, ‘a dog’, ‘a boy’, ‘a girl’, ‘a house’, ‘a tree’ etc. Notice that in natural speech, we don’t say ‘a’, we say ‘uh’ – like ‘a cat’. In this next set of words, you see that, they all start with a vowel sound – apple starts with /ae/, engineer starts with /e/, ice-cream with /ai/, old with /o/, umbrella with /uh/. So we say ‘an apple’, ‘an engineer’, ‘an ice-cream cone’, ‘an old womman’, ‘an umbrella’ and so on. In speech, we don’t say ‘an’, we say /ən/. Let’s do a small exercise. You see ten items on the screen. For each one, I want you to say if you would use ‘a’ or ‘an’ before it. Stop the video, think about it, then play the video again and check. OK here are the answers. Did you get them all right? I want to focus on items number seven to ten because these are a little tricky. Number seven is ‘a university’ because even though ‘university’ starts with the letter ‘u’ the first sound of the word is not a vowel sound. We don’t say /ooniversity/. We say /yoo-nə- vər-si-ty/ so that first sound is a /y/ sound, which a consonant sound, so we say ‘a university.’ Number eight is similar. The word ‘European’ starts with a /y/ sound, so ‘a European tour.’ In number nine, the spelling has an ‘h’ at the start but that ‘h’ is silent. We don’t say /hau-ər/, we say /au-ər/. The first sound is an /au/ sound which is a vowel sound, so this is ‘an hour’. In the same way, in number ten, we say MA. ‘M’ starts with an /e/ sound which is again a vowel sound, so ‘an MA in English’. OK let’s move on to rule number two: Use ‘a’ and ‘an’ ONLY with singular, countable nouns. We say that a noun is countable if we can count it – one, two, three, four etc. All of these words on the screen are countable. We can say one elephant, three cars, ten teachers, five hundred onions and so on. Now if you talk about one person or thing, like one elephant or one car, then that’s called a singular noun and if you say ten teachers or five hundred onions, those are called plural nouns. Uncountable nouns cannot be counted in this way. Nouns like water, sugar, milk, love, anger, knowledge are some examples. If you think about it, you cannot say “I drank four waters” or “I want eight milks”. To a person, you can say “I love you” but you can’t say “I have five loves for you” – that doesn’t make any sense. So these are all uncountable. Alright, so the rule is - you can only use ‘a’ and ‘an’ if you’re talking about one person or one thing. Let’s do another quick exercise. Here are ten items again. This time, you see ‘a’ or ‘an’ before the nouns, but some of these are wrong. They should NOT have ‘a’ or ‘an’ before them. Stop the video, identify the mistakes, then play the video again and check. OK, here are the answers. Number three is wrong because ‘shirts’ is a plural and you cannot use ‘a’ or ‘an’ before a plural noun. Number five is wrong because ‘happiness’ is uncountable, so again, ‘a’ or ‘an’ cannot be used there. The same goes for number six – water is uncountable. Number nine is wrong because ‘doctors’ is a plural – you can say ‘a doctor’ but not ‘a doctors’. And finally, in number ten, advice is an uncountable noun – so you cannot ask for ‘an advice’. Now a quick note here: the article ‘the’ can be used with all kinds of nouns – singular or plural countable nouns, and uncountable nouns. OK, so let’s now talk about how to choose between ‘a’ or ‘an’ and ‘the’. Here’s rule number three: Use ‘a’ or ‘an’ to talk about a person or thing unknown to your listener. And use ‘the’ to talk about a person or thing known to your listener. For example, “My sister has two computers: a PC and a laptop. The PC is quite old but the laptop is brand new.” I say ‘a PC’ and ‘a laptop’ because that’s the first time I’m mentioning the two computers. That is, until this point, they are unknown to you, the listener.

Articles - a, an & the - English Grammar lesson

11:07
Articles - a, an & the - English Grammar lesson Take the quiz - http://www.learnex.in/articles-a-an-the/ The 3 articles in English are a, an and the. The learner has to decide noun-by-noun which one of the articles to use. In fact, there are 4 choices to make, because sometimes no article is necessary. Native-speakers, of course, use the articles correctly without thinking. English learners, on the other hand, need to have some guidelines for making the right choice - particularly those learners whose own language does not have articles. The guidelines that follow in this lesson should help ESL students to a basic understanding of English article use. The words a, an and the are known as articles. • We use an before words that begin with vowels (a,e,i,o,u). E.g. I found an orange boat. However there are few exceptions like the words honest and hour. In the words honest and hour the alphabet h is silent and therefore the letter o becomes the first alphabet of the word and hence we use the article an. E.g. Mr. Smith is an honest man. I will be with you in an hour. We use a before words that begin with consonants (all the letters of the alphabet except the vowels). E.g. Bumble is a baby elephant. • We use the before words that we have already spoken about. E.g. I bought an apple. The apple is very sweet.
How to THINK in English - STOP Translating in Your Head & Speak Fluently Like a Native

Transcript: I can speak English, but before I say anything, I have to make a sentence in my native language, translate that into English, and then say it. I feel like I’m not speaking fluently because of this. That is one of the most common complaints I hear from my students. So in this lesson, I’m going to teach you three exercises that will help you to stop translating in your head. These exercises will make you think 100% in English and speak fluently without hesitation. So, let’s jump right into it. Here is exercise number one – Make sentences in your head. This is the number one fastest way to start thinking in English. Throughout your day, make sentences about what is happening around you. For example, let’s say that you’re sitting on the bus and you’re going somewhere. In your head, you can start talking in English – “I like this seat, it’s nice and comfortable. Look at that couple sitting over there – what are they doing? They look very happy. They’re joking and laughing about something. Anyway, let’s look out the window. Oh, what a beautiful park. I wish I could visit it sometime.” And so on. You can do this in any situation: when you’re at home, when you’re bored at work or school, when you’re waiting at the doctor’s office, when you’re walking in the park and so on. And it will train your brain to make sentences in English. Now, while you are doing this, if you start translating, it’s OK – don’t get disappointed, because as you keep practicing, you will collect more and more sentences for everyday situations, and over time, you will translate less. Remember to do this exercise many times every day – make it a habit to regularly make sentences in your head. Exercise number two is prepare sentences for conversations. For this exercise, think about a conversation that you are going to have in the future, and come up with sentences that you can use. For example, if there’s going to be a meeting in your workplace tomorrow, what would be some useful sentences? Well, if you’re going to present an idea to your colleagues, you might say – “I strongly believe this will help our sales.” a-ha! Keep that in mind to use tomorrow. Maybe you have a colleague (let’s say his name is Teddy) and he always interrupts you while you talk – if he does that tomorrow, you can say “Hold on, Teddy, let me finish!” – there’s another sentence. In this way, for upcoming conversations, you can prepare a lot of sentences and have them in your mental store – and you can even write them down to review later. As you do this exercise more and more, you will be able to use these sentences in many future conversations automatically without thinking too much. So take time to regularly prepare sentences for conversations. Exercise number three is recap your day. Do you know the meaning of ‘recap’? Recap means to remember and summarize something – in this case, your day. So this is an exercise you should do at the end of the day – maybe just before you go to bed – or you can even do this as you’re lying in bed before you go to sleep. Imagine that you’re telling a friend about your day in English – you might say “Today was a regular day for the most part. One interesting thing that happened in college was that a friend of mine told me she’s got an internship interview coming up in two days. So I helped her prepare for it.” and so on and so forth, you get the idea. You can also make sentences about how you felt about the different things that happened, you can say what you expect to happen tomorrow etc. Aim to do this for about 5-10 minutes before you go to sleep. What I like about this exercise is that you can do it at the same time every day, which means it’s very easy to make this a habit. And so all this practice in making sentences will help you think in English automatically. OK, those are my top three exercises for learning to think in English – make sentences in your head throughout the day, prepare sentences for conversations, and recap your day before you go to sleep. As a bonus tip, there’s one more powerful exercise that you can use to build your fluency, and it’s called JAM. This is short for Just-A-Minute, and it’s a fantastic speaking exercise that you can do by yourself to improve your fluency. If you want to learn it, I have a lesson just on this exercise - you will find the link in the description, so make sure to check it out.

How to Stop Translating in Your Head and Start Thinking in English Like a Native

14:54
Stop translating in your head and speak fluent, natural English without hesitations. See the FULL lesson on the blog: http://bit.ly/2Ts72yk Start reading the English Fluency Formula ebook with a FREE sample: http://bit.ly/2PDymf4 In conversations and other situations where you need to be able to process information quickly and respond immediately, translating in your head is a big problem. It slows you down. It makes you hesitate. At times you’ll completely miss out on the conversation because your chance to jump in has come and gone and you’re still trying to translate. On top of all that, a lot of slang, idioms and phrasal verbs can be difficult to translate quickly — if at all! It’s really best for your fluency if you stop translating in your head and learn to start thinking in English. Thinking in English is very important to developing your fluency in English… so let’s go! Here are my nine tips for thinking in English. DO DAILY ACTIVITIES IN ENGLISH Can you change your phone settings to English? How about talking to your pet in English when you’re going for a walk? If you commute to work by train or bus could you buy your fare in English? LISTEN TO MORE ENGLISH FOR IMMERSION WITH NATIVE SPEAKERS Turn on the internet radio, download podcasts, put Netflix or YouTube on in the background while you’re doing your chores or work! Your brain is so amazing that it will begin to recognize patterns and want to follow them too! TRY GUESSING OR PLANNING WHAT ENGLISH SPEAKERS ARE GOING TO SAY When you predict the conversation based on experience, you’ll be more confident and ready to respond. Imagine the conversations that you want to have in the future and create them before they happen so you feel more prepared. It may not go word-for-word how you plan it, so be ready for change. You could write the conversation down and practice it a few times. STOP LEARNING EXCLUSIVELY THROUGH TRANSLATION Observe, watch, hear, smell and relate vocabulary directly to its meaning — not the word in your first language. USE A MONOLINGUAL DICTIONARY A bilingual dictionary is good for one thing — to put your coffee cup on so it doesn’t leave rings on your table. LABEL OBJECTS IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE IN ENGLISH You can do this in your mind or actually on pieces of paper taped to the objects (or use sticky notes). Start with everyday objects that you use every day! For example, if I have a book at home and I am learning Portuguese I would label it “livro,” or if I am learning Arabic then I would label it “kitab.” Every time I look at it I am reminded to think that word! TALK TO YOURSELF IN ENGLISH Ask yourself questions and answer them. Make up a short story about a person you see on your way to work. You may want to do this in private when no one else is within earshot. It’s ok if you are not sure if your grammar is perfect, or if you make a mistake. No one will know! If you’re not sure if what you said to yourself is correct or not, then make a note to yourself to find out! You can do some research online, or ask your teacher or a native speaker friend later. JUST START THINKING IN ENGLISH WITH A MANTRA Even the smallest effort is better than nothing. Start with a mantra, or motto, that will help you get started each day in English. For example, “My English is getting better each day.” THINK A LITTLE MORE IN ENGLISH EACH DAY Start small. Make it a habit to think in English a little each day. Set an alarm if it’s hard to remember to switch into English. Then use the timer on your phone or computer to 1 minute to start and think only in English for that amount of time. It doesn’t matter what you think about, or even if you just say a few of the same phrases over and over. See if you can extend the time each day by 30 seconds! Wicked article creator with GSA search engine ranker

04:08
Hey guys - welcome to WAC tutorials. In this video we will learn how to use WAC to build content for your GSA campaign and import it in GSA Search engine ranker project through WAC ID. Before you start let me teach you few basic things about the GUI related to GSA ranker. The settings for GSA ranker can be found by clicking settings in WAC xtra tab and then selecting GSA SER. Let's study these settings first. This allows you to scrape google search suggest for a keyword and builds your keyword list. We do not recommend checking this as very few keywords are generated and you need thousands to make your search better. With this field you get translated content for those German and Polish comments and descriptions. You can create a spintax of multiple anchor texts for your linkbuilding using this radio group. These settings are to generate variations for the content. This is to create variations in titles. If you enter 50 then it means 50 titles will be spun together. We recommend using a number like 200-300 which is more than enough. Now in this comment field we have number of lines and variations. 3 and 10 means your comment field in GSA will have 3 lines and each line will have 10 variations or each line will be 10 lines spun together. So when submitting GSA will chose a line from these 10 lines and create a para of 3 lines. You can decide if you want lightly spun content or heavily spun content in this box. These 4 settings are for generating article content. Using these 2 fields you decide the length of your article. 5 and 5 means there will be 5 paragraphs and each paragraph will have 5 lines in it. Variations means how many times will each paragraph and line be spun. When you enter 5 here it means WAC will create 5 different paragraphs and then spin them together to create a single para. WAC will then create such paragraphs 5 times. With this options you can insert a link tag in your paragraphs. Please note that you can insert comma separated numbers here. When i put 2,3 it tells WAC to insert a link tag in 2nd and 3rd paragraph. You can insert only a maximum of as many paragraphs as you have in this box. Now this last options is for the Website title field in GSA. You can choose whether you want big titles or just anchor texts for your URLs. This is used by social bookmarks or blog comments. We recommend using anchor texts but you can select anything you want to. Alright now let's proceed to building a campaign and importing data in GSA. The easiest way to build a campaign is through quick access panel. Just enter your keyword here and select GSA. Now hit build. Note that if you already have articles loaded here then WAC will not download again. When you hit Build WAC will first add lines to your builder section and then use them to build a campaign. It will build comments, titles, article etc. and then translate them into german and polish field too. After it is done it will open the report. You can verify that a report has all the fields which you want and then go to export tab and click on export to database. You will get a WAC ID. This will be copied in your memory. Now go to GSA project and click auto-fill. Select WAC ID and insert your ID in this box and click ok. You will see that GSA will import all your content data in your project. WAC premium members have an option to build tier 1 quality content for their GSA campaigns. All you need to di is slect tier 1 in readability here and then select GSA and hit build. This will build the article field in tier 1 mode. However the comments, description and other fields will still be made from lines as they are very small.

Afreen Afreen, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Momina Mustehsan, Episode 2, Coke Studio Season 9

06:45
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was one of the shining lights of Pakistan, a Qawwali Shahehshah whose talent was heralded both locally and globally. To celebrate the legend that still lives 19 years on, Coke Studio presents Afreen Afreen, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Momina Mustehsan, Episode 2, Coke Studio 9 Music Directed by Faakhir Mehmood Produced by Strings The beautifully crafted ‘Afreen Afreen’ sung two decades ago by the legendry, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan still holds the strength to serenade the audience with its poetic and soothing sensibilities. The reformation of the track on Coke Studio – arranged by Faakhir Mehmood and performed by maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and debutant, Momina Mustehsan – transforms the Qawwali seamlessly into an unplugged track. Within the genre, the atmosphere of the song remains ambient and acoustic, as the bare minimum elements give room to Rahat’s majestic vocals to improvise the mastery he possesses. Momina enters the song as she punctuates the additional melody with her laid-back effortless velvety vocals. Towards the end, the track is perfectly complimented with the incredible drum roll and a hyper groove as the traditional ‘Afreen Afreen’ chants are delivered with heartfelt emotion and melodic panache. ‪#CokeStudio9

05:26
How to understand what your dog wants? Understanding a dog’s body language is essential for building a strong and trustworthy relationship with your four-legged friend. This is really important because dogs are a source of limitless positivity! So, do you know what your pet is trying to tell you in different situations? Our video will help you understand your pet or any other dog. Let’s get started – here are 16 useful clues for you to understand your dog better. Other videos you might like: 12 Harmful Things You Do to Your Dog Without Realizing It https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G16EX6b8Xg& Why Your Dog Always Follows You Into The Bathroom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGN3_CWKnO8 12 Things Your Dog Hates About You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwUrEHEUaIw& TIMESTAMPS: The dog’s TAIL 0:33 The dog’s EYES 1:34 The dog's FACE 2:46 The dog’s STANCE 3:36 #yourdog #yourpet #dogs SUMMARY: - If the dog wags his tail slowly, this means he doesn’t understand what’s going on. - A tucked tail is a sign that the dog is scared, afraid of pain, or feels uncomfortable. Most often, the dog tucks his tail between his legs when he is really afraid of something or someone. - When you approach an unfamiliar dog, it’s better to avoid looking directly into his eyes. For dogs, staring at the eyes means aggression. - The ears are standing straight up or inclined forward. The dog is showing you that he’s curious and reacting to some new event in his environment. - The dog yawns. This means your dog is grumpy and nervous. Puppies do this quite often when they’re surrounded by big unfamiliar dogs. - The dog licks his face. The dog does this when he’s stressed or feeling pressure or danger. - The dog rolls over and exposes his belly. The dog is showing that he trusts you and wants to please you. - The dog puts his head on your knee. This means the dog wants to get attention and show that he needs you. - The dog puts his paw on your knee. If the dog does this with a very smug look, he is trying to dominate. - The dog has one front paw raised. This stance means your pet wants to ask you something. - Dogs may shake (like they shake off water after a bath) as a way of relieving tension. Probably, your dog was in stress or met an unpleasant person or dog. The Anunnaki Creation Story: The Biggest Secret in Human History - Nibiru is Coming

16:44
445 000 years ago, “creator gods” – as they call it – came to Earth. They were called the Anunnaki, which means “Those Who from Heaven to Earth Came”. These beings inhabited a distant orbiting planet called Nibiru, which only entered our solar system every 3,600 years. They describe Nibiru as many times the diameter of Earth, and abundant with iron oxide, making its rivers and lakes appear red. A side note about Nibiru: according to the Sumerian tablets, Nibiru’s atmosphere began to deteriorate and became a hostile place for life, and in order to restore it, the Annunaki needed one important element for their atmosphere: gold. I am enthusiastic about entrepreneur videos. I have searched on Youtube and Google and I always get videos/articles about what to do. I believe knowing what NOT to do is equally important. Usually, all I get is generic tips such as "dont grow too fast" but there are no concrete case studies. But when it comes to successful stories, there are specific examples we can learn from. I was thinking if maybe you can have videos/articles analysing and explaining how some real businesses failed, especially start ups. It would be great if you can use your influence to encourage entrepreneurs who have failed to share their stories with you. That way, the mistake will only be made by once because we all will have learnt from it Hopefully you'll consider my suggestion" ENGAGE * Subscribe to my channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=Modelingthemasters * Leave a comment, thumbs up the video (please!) * Suppport me: http://www.evancarmichael.com/support/ CONNECT * Twitter: https://twitter.com/evancarmichael * Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EvanCarmichaelcom * Google+: https://plus.google.com/108469771690394737405/posts * Website: http://www.evancarmichael.com EVAN * About: http://www.evancarmichael.com/about/ * Products: http://www.evancarmichael.com/zhuge/ * Coaching: http://www.evancarmichael.com/movement/ * Speaking: http://www.evancarmichael.com/speaking/ SCHEDULE * Mon - 1 Minute Mondays: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM2HwduoMCpvZRhd2qE22Fg- * Tues - Tech Tuesdays: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM3NGvdl33mEwdUdr19zti9s * Thurs - Thankful Thursdays: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM2Scsq-0Er3mA8U3Kqz9fiV * Fri - Famous Fridays: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM30QoA2ygo5RWzfQm8y7ScL * Sun - Famous Failures: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiZj-Ik9MmM2aeaKPqI5ILrNcLjbQZDob * Your Questions - Every day! Not Working the Jack Ma 996 Schedule? Then You're Passionless!

Not Working the Jack Ma 996 Schedule? Then you are passionless! Oh, and you're probably fired... Its a brutal form of extreme-overtime culture that seems to surround the cult of billionaire leaders. Signup for my newsletter and more: http://www.viralml.com Connect on Twitter: https://twitter.com/amunategui Check out my book "Fringe Tactics - Finding Motivation in Unusual Places" Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PR4J2KS Articles: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-15/jack-ma-again-endorses-extreme-overtime-as-online-furor-rages-on https://news.efinancialcareers.com/uk-en/196881/working-hours-banks Transcript: Hello YouTube Friends If You Are Not Working the Jack Ma 996 Schedule? Then You're Passionless... oh, and Fired! Jack Ma has been getting a lot of news coverage lately around his endorsement of long work hours. Here is one example in Bloomberg "Jack Ma Again Endorses Extreme Overtime as Furor Rages On" Jack Ma is a legend. From all the one-liners I read from him on Instagram, Linkedin, and Facebook - I feel like I know him personally. Instagram has some 100k thumbnails full of advice - literally something for everybody - I never read any of the official biographies so I have no idea if any of it even from him. And I imagine there's a lot lost in translation and journalistic creativity around these one-liners. Welcome to the ViralML Show, my name is Manuel Amunategui. I wrote a few books you can find on Amazon, including this one "Fringe Tactics: Finding Motivation in Unusual Places." Which is about helping you to work on your own dreams, not somebody else. Please signup for my newsletter, upper right content, and subscribe to the channel. Now, I do feel that Jack MA he is personable, funny, loves to give advice, humble, and charismatic - there you have it charisma! charisma is the biggest cause of zealotry and Idolatry transforming regular workers, you and me, into zombie worker bees. But, before I digress too much, what is the 996 work schedule? The first two nine's mean 9AM to 9PM, yep, that's a 12 hour day folks. But it gets worse, the 6 after the two nines means 6 days a week! Wow. Good thing u still have one day in the week to sleep in and go therapy to ponder the meaning of your existence... That's 72 hours a week folks! There are countries, like China, Japan, and the US - and companies within them that are known for their brutal hours. In the US, finance and bank hours are notoriously bad and its the tip of the iceberg. Average working hours by bank, 2017 and 2018 What are we? Image of robots at Amazon plant? There is a culture nowadays of putting as much pressure on workers to perform. This goes into officeless environments, offering lunches at work to keep them there. Standups that feel more like parades of how you spent your last 8 hours. It's a shame because most jobs require time to think and look back at achievements. I know something about charismatic leaders spellbinding you into 80 hour weeks. I imagine Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are like that, Steve Jobs was like that. I worked at Microsoft in the late '90s and whenever we'd cross Bill Gates in a corridor, we couldn't stop jumping up and down as kids about to get candy. I know a few people who work at Amazon, and I always ask them, did you see Jeff? We all get blindsided. But let's do this thought experiment if you didn't have to work but were passionate about something. Imaging you love painting or building drones, whatever. You think you would be able to pull a few 996s for a few months? Yeah, me neither. This is just peer pressure and it sucks. I think this is a new form of harassment, just as insidious as sexual harassment. It needs to be called out and stomped out. We can keep squeezing the middle class for everything it's worth. Yes, I did write the book on motivation and I do present tricks here and there to push ourselves like working in the coffee shop where your screen is visible to others, making strangers your de-facto boss by proxy. But that is self-inflicted, not some BS about trying to be the bosses pet... Parents may be proud of you putting in the hours but are you proud of yourself? Are you happy? and for the rest of us, do you want to fly in a plane driven by a 996er? or be operated by a doctor on a 996 schedule? Yeah, didn't think so either. My point is to work the hours you are contracted to - and work them well. But don't spend the rest of the time on the couch - spend the rest of your time on personal growth - like side gigs, a saas business, your startup, your art. Push yourself to get your own dreams accomplished as well! you can do it! And leave a paper trail in the public domain - like writing articles, sharing code on GitHub, whatever, it is not only generous but will keep you accountable.

HOW TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE? “WINNERS DON’T MAKE EXCUSES” - HARVEY SPECTER QUOTES ►Motivational Alarm Clocks https://beinspiredchannel.com/alarms I made this video because a lot of people make excuses and they not pursue their dreams. We can always find a reason not to pursue our dreams, not to take action, not to stick our neck out. Our reasons seem perfectly well reasonable. We can always justify why we can’t do something – especially to ourselves. Living a life of excuses can have very serious and lasting consequences. Not only will excuses prevent you from reaching your full potential, but people around you will also hold you back from recognizing opportunities, talents and skills you might have, to help you overcome your problems. If you don’t challenge yourself to reach new levels, you will never really know what you’re capable of. New opportunities lie hidden around every corner, however you will never find them if you riddle your mind with constantly finding reasons to make excuses. The Lie We Live

08:25
The Lie We Live (2015) is a video written & created by myself, Spencer Cathcart, which I originally published in January 2015. It received over 26 million views, however a music company put a copyright claim on it over a small portion of background music. I've licensed new music to avoid this issue. Otherwise this is the same video and the words are exactly the same. SUBTITLES: Watch The Lie We Live with subtitles in over 40 languages through "Settings" in the lower right corner of the video. NOTE: Do not download & reupload my videos or copy in other languages (any translation of my writing is copyright infringement). The original YouTube link can be shared anywhere which has subtitles in 40 languages so there's no reason to upload it elsewhere. Reuploads also make it very difficult for me to build an audience to share my future videos with. Songs licensed (in order): "Desolation" - Really Slow Motion "Frozen Synapse" - Audiomachine "Above All" - Petteri Sainio "Signal Processing" - Audiomachine "Wide Open Sky" - Audiomachine "Journey Through The Portal" - Audiomachine "Ice of Phoenix" - Audiomachine Along with my own footage, this video contains a few very short images from the film Blue Planet and some other sources in accordance with fair use policies. Spanish for Beginners - The definite article

06:50
Spanish lessons - In general, the definite article can be used whenever we say “the” in English. However, sometimes the definite article is used in Spanish when we don’t say “the” in English. In this video lesson we are going to look a 4 cases where you must use the definite article in Spanish but that in English would be incorrect. The 4 cases we are going to talk about in the video are the following: WITH GENERIC OR ABSTRACT NOUNS Use the definite article when speaking generally or abstractly about a noun. WITH DAYS OF THE WEEK Use the definite article with days of the week to say on. WITH TITLES The definite article is used with titles when talking ABOUT people but not when talking TO them. WITH PARTS OF THE BODY The definite article is used with parts of the body and personal possessions when we would ordinarily use possessive pronouns, such as mi (my) or su (his, her) in English. You may need to watch this video a few times to fully understand when you have to use the definite article in Spanish. We want to make these videos as useful as possible so we have provided the translation of every word that is taught. Also we have put subtitles both in English and Spanish so that you can practice even more efficiently. We hope you enjoy this lesson. Let us know with a comment and please subscribe to our channel. Well, in this video, I will clear up that confusion. I’m going to teach you the three main uses of these forms how to use them correctly without making mistakes. As always, there is a quiz at the end of the video to test your understanding. Alright, let’s get started. Before we talk about the uses, you need to know the basics of where to use have, has and had been: in the present, if the subject of a sentence is I/You/We/They or a plural noun, then we use ‘have been’. If the subject is He/She/It or a singular noun, then we use ‘has been’. This is when we talk about the present. When we talk only about the past, it’s very easy. For any subject, we use ‘had been’. OK, let me test you: what do we use with He/She/It or a singular noun in the present? We use ‘has been’. What about with I/You/We/They or plural nouns? We use ‘have been’. And in the past tense? We use ‘had been’ for all subjects. Good, so let’s now look at the first use of these forms. This is in the present perfect tense. That is, to talk about actions or situations that started in the past and are still continuing. Here’s an example: “I have been working as a teacher for 7 years.” In speech, we usually shorten ‘I have’ to ‘I’ve’ – “I’ve been working as a teacher for 7 years.” Let’s look at a timeline for this. You know that I started working as a teacher seven years ago (or in 2010 because at the time of filming this video, right now, it’s 2017), and I’m still a teacher, so this action – ‘working’ is continuing. In this sentence, we can also say: “I have been working as a teacher since 2010.” The difference between ‘for’ and ‘since’ is that if you want to mention the duration (or amount of time), then you use ‘for’ (like ‘for 7 years’). If you want to mention the starting point of the action or situation, use ‘since’ (as in ‘since 2010’). Here’s another example: let’s say that this lady wants to see the doctor. Her appointment was at 3 o’clock. She came to the hospital at 3, but the doctor wasn’t there. So she started waiting at 3 o’clock and she’s still waiting – let’s say it’s 5 o’clock now, so two hours have passed. So what can we say? We can say: “She has been waiting for two hours.” or “She has been waiting since 3 o’clock.” In natural speech, we say he‘s been and she’s been: “She’s been waiting”. OK have a look at this sentence: “He has been the CEO of the company for four months” or we can say ‘since June’ because that’s when he started. Here, we don’t have an –ing verb like ‘working’ or ‘waiting’. That’s because we don’t want to focus on any action, we just want to express the situation – that he became the CEO in June and he’s still the CEO. Here’s another example: “They’ve been married for 25 years / since 1992.” When did they get married? In 1992. Are they still married now? Yes. So, they’ve been married for 25 years now. OK, so what about ‘had been’? Well, let’s change our sentences a little bit: “I had been working as a teacher for 7 years when I quit my job.” Ah, we see a different meaning here. It means that I started working as a teacher at some point in the past, I was a teacher for 7 years, but then I quit. So now, I am no longer a teacher. I want you to notice that there are two past actions here: one continuous action (“I had been working as a teacher”) and a single finished action at the end of that (“I quit”). Compare this to the previous sentence – “I have been working as a teacher” – here, there is only one continuous action and it’s still continuing, it’s not finished. So, please remember this rule: only use ‘had been’ if there were two events in the past: a continuing action or a situation and a single, finished action. So let’s go back to the other sentences. With these, we can say: “She had been waiting for two hours when the doctor finally arrived.” “He’d been the CEO of the company for only four months when it went bankrupt.” ‘Went bankrupt’ means the company lost all its money and closed down. “They had been married for 25 years when they divorced.” So are they still married? Unfortunately, no. Just like the sentences with ‘have been’ and ‘has been’ are in the present perfect tense, the sentences with ‘had been’ are in the past perfect tense.

But when an RT reporter Anastasia Churkina confronts her on it, she can't back it up. MS. PSAKI: Sure. Go ahead in the back. RT's Anastasia Churkina: You tweeted several hours ago, "Stop the shooting in Simferopol. Clear that Russia shot first." And I'm just curious, what is this clarity based on? What are the facts behind this statement? MS. PSAKI: Well, Russia entered a Ukrainian base, and that's clearly an act that we have concerns about and shows their level of aggression in this case. So I think events on the ground seem pretty clear in our view, and we were just expressing -- I was just expressing a concern about the reports we're hearing on the ground. QUESTION: But now you said -- you talked about entering a base. But in the tweet, you were saying that it's clear that it actually fired a shot first, and that's a pretty serious allegation. So what does this information -- where is it coming from? Because there's been plenty of conflicting reports on what actually has been happening in Simferopol. So we're just curious as to -- MS. PSAKI: Well, we don't see -- let me just say we don't see how it's possibly true that the Russian claim that they were -- they were not -- that someone else was the aggressor, that the Ukrainians were the aggressor, can possibly be true, given they entered the Ukrainian base. QUESTION: They're not saying that. They're saying it's a provocation, whereas you're saying that it's very clear and you're -- MS. PSAKI: They have said that a little bit. I think we're ready to move on. Do we have another topic? http://rt.com/news/us-accuses-russia-shooting-981/ http://rt.com/usa/psaki-rt-russian-translation-837/ http://rt.com/news/crimea-shooting-sniper-kiev-897/ https://twitter.com/statedeptspox/statuses/447417483486842880 https://twitter.com/statedeptspox/statuses/446278786435547136 http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sociopath After RT reported on her response to their correspondent, about how she was unable to provide facts to back up her accusation against Russia, she made an allegation against RT. I'll show you what tweeted in a few seconds, I just want to point out that her reaction to RT's reporting makes it hard to argue with these comments posted to the previous video. Several people commented about her lying and seeming like a sociopath in this video. Well, what she tweeted about RT makes it hard to argue that she isn't a person who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience. Look at this. She's claiming that RT faked the translation!? Faked the translation of what? Of her evasive answer to the RT correspondent challenging her to provide information to back up her claim? You're saying that it's clear that ... [Russia translation] And I haven't seen a response to this question of "Could you please clarify what exactly has been faked? Too late for excuses ..." Several people have tweeted comments calling here out on this, "I heard your original in English & you sucked there too, maybe check facts before accusing people." She starts that tweet by insisting that she must be doing something right but I think it's clear she's doing something wrong. And she never got around to saying what supposedly was faked in the translation as if they would need to. RT has an article where they suggest she learn Russian if she's going to make an accusation saying it's a fake translation. The way the system is set up ...
How CRISPR lets us edit our DNA | Jennifer Doudna

Geneticist Jennifer Doudna co-invented a groundbreaking new technology for editing genes, called CRISPR-Cas9. The tool allows scientists to make precise edits to DNA strands, which could lead to treatments for genetic diseases … but could also be used to create so-called "designer babies." Doudna reviews how CRISPR-Cas9 works — and asks the scientific community to pause and discuss the ethics of this new tool.
