Some in Silicon Valley are even calling for a basic minimum income provided by the government for everyone, under the assumption that work will become scarce. But many economists are skeptical of these claims, because the notion that the the economy offers a fixed amount of work has been debunked time and time again over the centuries and current economic data show no signs of a productivity boom. Fortunately, we don't need to divine the future of the labor market in order to prepare for it. /// Vox.com is a news website that helps you cut through the noise and understand what's really driving the events in the headlines. Futurist Ray Kurzeil Predicts Technological Advances for 2020 and 2099

22:44
Futurist Ray Kurzeil Predicts Technological Advances for 2020 and 2099 http://VFNKB.com Ray Kurzweil, the author of How To Create A Mind, was hired by Google to be able to understand people and how we operate. In this interview, Ray gives predictions of how we will be shopping and living soon. He says by the year 2020, “All physical things we need will be information files.” Ray also says by the end of 2020 virtual reality will be inside our brains! “Once virtual reality goes inside our brains, and that will be here by the late 2020’s…the computer will actually create the environment, and then we can be virtual actors in a virtual environment.” Eating and living life will not be the same either, “We can eat in a virtual environment and have that sensual experience because our brain is receiving these signals as if they were coming from the real world, but it’s actually the virtual world.” Ray continues to explain that we can design our own bodies in the virtual world somewhat like what already exists, where people have avatars representing themselves online. It’s an agreement system between people that everybody respects. Even terrorists who have very different views of society, and mainstream society; everybody respects money. It’s a big system of agreements that we have…Certainly, payment is already going online.” In the Word of God, we are told to take captive every thought! “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” We are to give control of our mind to God and not to some virtual reality and this up and coming virtual reality takes fantasy to a new level. People are getting caught up in this every day! Many are saying things as if they truly know and have experienced what they are talking about, but it is just data that they gained virtually, maybe by searching Google. And because of this many do not have wisdom only knowledge. Jesus Christ is wisdom Himself. We need to have an abiding relationship with Him, and you can sign up for an abiding plan at iAbide.org and get this free plan today. Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” We need to hear the voice of God to know what is real and what is not real and through spending time with God He will reveal to us the truth. We want to hear from you!

“Extinction is the rule. Survival is the exception.” ― Carl Sagan Going up? The inspiration to do this mix got pretty much initiated when I was thinking about the progress over the technological revolution what humanity has witnessed over the last few millenia. The outstanding effort to evolve as a "specie" through knowledge is what gives a promising framework of potentiality for mankinds future. But not without setbacks and heavy burdens when it comes to these dramatic changes in the climate that we've boosted and set in motion, and thus becoming the biggest challenge we must overcome. It's a long, bumpy road, We must take to succeed! This mix was also very much build and motivated with the visionary images from the futuristic skyscraper city landscapes and then continued even further to the space exploration and thus the overall idea of humanity's potential trough science and technology as - a new hope to thrive! Starting from a bit melancholic atmosphere in a rainy midnight neon city lights and building it to a new dawn filled with uplifting excitement and emerging new hope with awareness that not even the sky's the limit for human race. https://www.mixcloud.com/Ambient_Epicuros/metropolis-21-the-thrive/ Tracklist: 01. We are already at the beginning stages of this now. The University of Kyoto has already, using deep neural networks, been and able to output what people are seeing inside of their minds. Even later after you stopped looking at the image, if they ask you to remember that image, not only are they recording what you're seeing in real time they're recording your memory of seeing the object. Using these technologies we are just at the beginning of being able to access the dream world. A world that we all share, each of us, every night, and we have no access to. That dream space that we all carry, most of us don't really remember our dreams and we don't really have access to that information but it does exist in our subconscious. Imagine being able to go to sleep at night and being able to record that information and wake up in the morning and watch, literally watch your dreams. Using VR combined with a dreamscape, we will see in the future a dream economy where we are recording our dreams, where we are selling dreams where there are dream factories and dream farms, where people go to produce fantastical worlds. What are the ethics of the neurotechnologies that can read your mind that can see what you're seeing or can read your dreams or record your dreams and how do we establish those and can they be adhered too? Or is it going to get out of our control? There are four ethics of neurotechnology. The right to cognitive liberty, to mental privacy, to mental integrity and psychological continuity. Psychological continuity, in the neurotechnology space, is interesting because we want to avoid altering continuity invading people's psychological privacy. The idea that someone could hack into your mind and alter your memory is a frighting prospect for the future. Unfortunately, that is probably something that is going to happen. Your dreamscape in the future will be hackable. If you think back on your life right now, there's a continuity to your memory and you can go back over that again and again and again so when someone says will tell me about that time you went to the beach when you were fourteen. There's a continuity in that memory. But to have a hacker break into that system and alter that continuity and make you forget that you went on that trip at fourteen, they have changed the continuity of your memory. These are some of the things we will need to think about in the future when we think about neurotechnologies. This realm of recording dreams and recording memory and recording what we were thinking about we are definitely headed towards that in the future." What is FUTURISTIC NOW? Transcript: "In the future imagine quantifying all of your experiences. Every chemical reaction, every emotion, every dream recorded, every word spoken, every experience quantified and digitized. That is knowing the self on a level that we've never experienced before. We are headed towards what John Smart calls a Transcension. We are headed towards moving inward, moving smaller, more compact, moving down into the self. Through self-quantification, wearable tech, brain-computer interface, all of that exists to quantify the human body, to quantify our experience. As we become better and better at understanding the self, understanding our psychology reading dreams reading the minds of human beings how will that change who and what we are and how we view ourselves in the cosmological algorithmic experience that we're having? We're bringing that information and putting it back into the body. These are the kinds of things are going to see the future where the feedback loop becomes faster and faster and faster. You use artificial intelligence to read your emotions, predict your behaviors, predict your desires. That’s where we are headed. We're actually headed towards knowing the self better than we ever have throughout our history as human beings. All of those things are going to be possible. We're going to quantify the body and we’re going to feed that into an AI system that can make sense of it. And so that's another step in this portal inward. Were are using ancient codes from the cosmos to create these machines that will enable us to evolve. So there's this mirroring effect that starting to happen with our technologies. All of these ways to quantify the self and the mind if we have access to that in the future we're going to make better decisions, we're going to be better people and the world will eventually become a more equal and fair place to live for everyone." Great Corporate Events - future of corporate events industry - Futurist Keynote Speaker

05:51
Future of corporate conferences and events in Ireland. It's already with over 100 million Euros to the Irish economy, and looks set to continue to grow. Unique events are preferred by corporations to make their brand stand out from competitors. Most hotels are not designed with these events in mind, meaning logistical challengers for organisers. Conference organisers are under pressure to deliver even within these restrictions but there are other options - one solution is to take events outside into temporary structures, boats, warehouses etc. allowing exciting unique and rememberable experiences - whoever can take these ideas forward will be at the forefront of the corporate events industry, in Ireland and around the world. Futurist keynote speaker, Patrick Dixon - author 15 books on global trends and Chairman of Global Change Ltd - is an international inspirational lecturer, and expert, on leadership, management, supply chain, innovation, trends analysis and business strategy. Future of Health Care and Medical Technology - Futurist keynote speaker Patrick Dixon

02:54
Conference in Seoul, South Korea - conference speaker Patrick Dixon: Over 1 billion people will be over the age of 65 by 2025. 65% of all health spending is on those over the age of 65, most of whom have several chronic conditions, almost all related to the ageing process. Life expectancy will increase very rapidly in almost every nation. In the last hour, it is likely that your own life expectancy has increased by an average of 15 minutes. The greatest health challenges in the next two decades will be: Brain damage – eg Alzheimers; Cancers; Obesity including diabetes; Heart Disease and strokes; Chronic wounds and Bacterial Infections; Parasitic Infections including Malaria; Infertility; Care of older people (mainly at home); and (big risk) threats from Viral Pandemics like Sars, Bird Flu or Ebola. Medical technology will transform future health care: examples include next-generation 3D imaging inside the body; 3D printing of new organs and organ repair using stem cells; endoscopy using tiny tubes for diagnosis and surgery - $75bn a year market by 2022; computer-aided diagnosis – using Big Data; digitised patient records – instant availability in the Cloud; telemonitoring, and home diagnostics – huge growth in virtual medicine; Growth of self-learning – web-based diagnostic programmes for worried people; social media – sharing health experience – scoring carers, rating doctors and hospitals; We will be able to read your genetic code in less than 2 hours for less than $5000 by 2025, enabling us to predict with far greater accuracy your medical future – using Big Data, Cloud Computing, combining tens of thousands of genomes, medical records, lifestyle data. Expect to hear a lot more about the use of nanotech machines in medicine – they already exist in nature as viruses, and manufactured viruses will be widely used to treat diseases such as cancer. Expect many medical technology startups, some of which will become global giants, and for major investment in medical technology here in South Korea, encouraged by government policy. #1603 Futurist Ray Kurzeil Predicts Technological Advances for 2020 and 2099 http://VFNKB.com Futurist Ray Kurzweil Predicts Technological Advances for 2020 and 2099 Is everything in life moving to the virtual world? Ray Kurzweil, the author of How To Create A Mind, says that yes it is, from eating to currency, it will be done virtually. Ray was hired by Google to be able to understand people and how we operate. In this interview, he gives predictions of how we will be shopping and living soon. Ray says that we won’t need any physical currency or even a device to pay for things, it will be done virtually. In the Word of God, we are told to take captive every thought! “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” We are to give control of our mind to God and not to some virtual reality and this up and coming virtual reality takes fantasy to a new level. We need to have an abiding relationship with Jesus, and you can sign up for an abiding plan at iAbide.org and get this free plan today. Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” We need to hear the voice of God to know what is real and what is not real and through spending time with God He will reveal to us the truth. We want to hear from you! Greg and Steve shared in this segment. #VFNKB #Technology #iAbide

Futurist Mercedes Self Driving Future Smart Tech Jobs Future Technology Watch in UltraHD + SUBSCRIBE #CARJAMTV CARJAM TV - Subscribe Here Now https://www.youtube.com/user/CarjamRadio/videos Future studies or futurology is the science, art and practice of postulating possible, probable, and preferable futures and the worldviews and myths that underlie them. Determine the likelihood of future events and trends. A key part of this process is understanding the potential future impact of decisions made by individuals, organisations and governments. “ Take hold of the future or the future will take hold of you” Three factors usually distinguish futures studies from the research conducted by other disciplines (although all disciplines overlap, to differing degrees). First, futures studies often examines not only possible but also probable, preferable, and "wild card" futures. Second, futures studies typically attempts to gain a holistic or systemic view based on insights from a range of different disciplines. Third, futures studies challenges and unpacks the assumptions behind dominant and contending views of the future. The future thus is not empty but fraught with hidden assumptions. Futures studies does not generally include the work of economists who forecast movements of interest rates over the next business cycle, or of managers or investors with short-term time horizons. Most strategic planning, which develops operational plans for preferred futures with time horizons of one to three years, is also not considered futures. But plans and strategies with longer time horizons that specifically attempt to anticipate and be robust to possible future events, are part of a major subdiscipline of futures studies called strategic foresight. Unexpected Futurist: Frederick Douglass, Technology, and Human Brotherhood

11:08
Unexpected Futurist: Frederick Douglass, Technology, Human Brotherhood, and the shrinking world, 1830-1890. Frederick Douglass was born a slave, and was separated from his mother while still an infant. And yet, by the time Douglass was in his late thirties, he was one of America’s best known orators, abolitionists, authors, and women’s rights activists. His face and beard are iconic images in American history, but the incredible breadth of his vision for the future beyond the Civil War - is less widely known. Douglass’s faith that society was moving - if unevenly - in the right direction, was not solely due to a simple faith in human nature. Even before the end of slavery, he saw technology as an important key towards making the world smaller, and in making injustices more difficult to conceal. Thank you for supporting our work. ~Mel Fabregas S y n o p s i s Many believe that the world is entering a time of monumental historic change that will accelerate in the next five years. Our leaders need to be prepared to address life-altering events such as a rapid climate change, a severe restriction of the oil supply, a tipping point in the global financial system, disease, population explosion. The future of the world depends on the choices we all make. Through his futurist think tank, John L. Petersen connects dots and describes the future. B i o Futurist, Strategist, and Large-Scale Change Agent John L. Petersen is considered by many to be one of the most informed futurists in the world. He is best-known for writing and thinking about high impact surprises—wild cards—and the process of surprise anticipation. He edits and publishes an internationally acclaimed e-newsletter, FUTUREdition, which highlights weak signals and early indicators of significant futures. John conceived of, designed and developed the world's first national surprise anticipation center for the country of Singapore. In 1989 Petersen founded The Arlington Institute (TAI), a non-profit, future-oriented research institute. TAI operates on the premise that effective thinking about the future is impossible without casting a very wide net. The "think tank" serves as a global agent for change by developing new concepts, processes and tools for anticipating the future and translating that knowledge into better present-day decisions. An award-winning writer, Petersen's first book, The Road to 2015: Profiles of the Future was awarded Outstanding Academic Book of 1995 by CHOICE Academic Review, and remained on The World Future Society's best-seller list for more than a year. His second book, Out of the Blue: How to Anticipate Wild Cards and Big Future Surprises, was also a WFS best-seller. His coauthored article, "The Year 2000: Social Chaos or Social Transformation?" was published in six different publication and was one of the most highly acclaimed writings on Y2K. His 1988 book-length report "The Diffusion of Power: An Era of Realignment" was used at the highest levels of American government as a basis for strategic planning. He has written papers on the future of national security and the military, the future of energy and the future of the media. John's third book, A Vision for 2012: Planning for Extraordinary Change, presents a template for individuals and organizations for dealing with highly uncertain futures.

Future of Work: Digital Transformation, AI, Big Data, and business analytics (#237)

46:12
What are the implications of digital transformation, technology, machine learning, and new business models on the future of work? The impact of big data and business analytics with technologies such as artificial intelligence have profound implications for companies, individuals, and society. At the same time, government policy on these issue lags technology and the impact on people. On this episode, a respected futurist and well-known data scientist explore these complicated and important issues. Frank Diana leads the business solutions organization for TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) Global Consulting. and is a top futurist. Anthony Scriffignano is Chief Data Scientist at Dun and Bradstreet. Michael Krigsman is an industry analyst and host of CXOTALK. For more information, https://www.cxotalk.com/episode/future-tech-disruption-future-work ------------------ Check out more CXOTALK episodes: https://cxotalk.com/episodes ------------------ From the transcript: (05:35) What are the forces shaping the future of work? Frank Diana: (05:42) So, let me kick that off and I’d love to get Anthony’s perspective on it as well. Things like the driverless car is an easy one. That one, in the last six months to a year, has really taken off, and now people don't see it as science fiction anymore, but that driverless car, as just one scenario, has brought in deep implications across every sector. And when you actually start to look at that, you appreciate just how disruptive and impactful that one scenario is. But how about things like healthy life extension? That's one of the scenarios that I'm tracking as well, as we've looked to extend our lives, and that's not just in terms of years lived, but healthy years lived. And, what does that mean to retirement? And what does that mean to insurance, and all of the things that, really, we think about? And on, and on, and on; the maker economy. The sharing access economy. These are all scenarios that I call … And again, they do intersect and intertwine. Very impactful! Anthony Scriffignano: (06:30) So, maybe I can just add a little bit to that. On the driverless car, I would expand that to this concept of autonomy. So, we have things. We have cars. We have drones. We have fill-in-the-blank. And these things have agents in them that are describing their behavior, so we give them goals. In the case of a car, it might be “drive safely and get where you’re going.” And then all of a sudden, these autonomous agents need the ability to modify their goals. Something changes in the environment, somebody runs out in front of the car, etc. And now, we are … Autonomous agents are given the power to change their behavior at our request. That’s going to change everything for us. That’s going to change the way we interact with our agents because they may not be doing what we ask them to do anymore. Kind of like children, right? And also, because those agents might be able to think faster than we can, doesn’t necessarily mean that they have the experience and the context that we do, with the emotion that we do. (07:23) So, if I could tie that to the healthy living comment, think about things like senior care. Think about things like understanding how to deal with people in the end-stages of life. Do we want autonomous agents doing that? I don't think so. So, I think at some level, this disruptive change gives us the opportunity to focus on things that human beings uniquely do better than machines, at least in the thirty-year horizon that we can see. And also, we have to pay attention to what we're giving up to those machines and make sure that that's not happening by accident. And, I would add one last thing, which is that not all of this innovation is for good. So, think about the ways that the band guys can use this disruptive innovation that's happening all around us to disrupt in ways that we don't even have words for, yet. So, there's a very high cost to doing nothing. And that high cost is that some of that innovation happens without us paying attention, and then we get disrupted in ways that are really terrifying and surprising at the same time. (23:47) And so, the question comes up: Could I write a piece of software that could write an article about an event like that that passes the Turing Test – that lets people believe that it was written by a human? And the answer is “yes,” until a hot air balloon lands in the middle of the track that was unexpected or, all of a sudden a geyser opens up. See, these unexpected things start to happen and algorithms aren’t going to be so good at that because they haven’t been taught to write about it; whereas, a reporter would jump in and say, “This is the coolest thing ever! A hot air balloon just landed in the middle of the track and I’m going to write about it first, and I’m going to get the greatest article and I’m going to get the Pulitzer Prize.”
