Hey. Thanks for the video! Can you please let us know what exactly to write in the mail that we send to people because it should sound professional too and that is the part that I think many people will have problem with as beginners. Maybe a general layout would help, thanks :)
I was hoping to become an illustrator without going to school and getting a degree, because going into debt would be counterproductive. And having a degree is no guarantee that I would get a job as an illustrator. But I do love to draw! So any help you can give would be muchly appreciated! Anyways, I look forward to more of your content! Have a great day!
Thank you so much. I graduated from university last year, and since then have had a change of heart, from interior design to illustration. Set up a small business last October, which is going well just putting in the foundations and trying my best to be consistent but these past couple of weeks have been hard. Creative block, lack of motivation/direction just everything swirling round in my head, this video has helped me so much in just going back to the basics, I'm still in the very early days so need to just take each day as it comes. Your advice is just what I needed to hear. Thanks so much.
Hi,this video was quite honest and still nice as you point out really helpful solution for new illustrators. As the world is dark and full of questions and it’s life savour as you shared experience for me.I have made few of my little illustration video, please do check out at my channel-magicalwinnie and Instagram#magicalwinnie.
Ja, justo quiero iniciar un canal acerca de cómo avanzo en mi sueñito de ser ilustradora, a veces creo que sólo pueden crear contenido aquellos que ya llevan una carrera larga y quizá no es así. Graciaaaaaaaaaas
Fran, you have been such a role model for me these last four+ years. Thank you for posting these videos and keeping my spirit up and helping me continue to be an artist. As soon as I can I want to support your patreon and Etsy :)
The hardest part I find is coming up with a name for my separate illustration page / social media, I am so desperate to start but I want to make up a different name entirely as I don't want people to find it as me until I'm happy to share. Any tips on coming up with a name? Please help! I would appreciate it so much :)
hi fran, this is a question that perhaps you can answer? maybe this or related topics would be good video content. i know you often advise us beginner illustrators and maybe you can offer some advice on this. i was recently commissioned an illustration for a small product created by someone i know. he paid me for my work and we were both happy with the transaction. he came to post the design on fb and instagram but there was no mention of me as the artist who created this work. he feels it is inappropriate to credit me as the artist who made the illustration when posting the illustration online as it relates to his product. it doesnt seem right to me, but perhaps he is correct. what do you think? i know that it is necessary when reposting someone else's artwork, but what about in the situation that they have paid for the work? i cant seem to find much advice on this online. maybe others have experienced this particular situation.
Hi Fran! I know this is an older video.. but I am new to following you.. and I just want to say that I love everything you do! Now, I have a question about social media.. Currently, I post all the same things on all of my social media platforms.. Looking through your social media, I noticed that it looks like you post certain types of things to certain platforms.. Am I right? If so, do you think you could talk about why, how, and what you decide to post to all the things? Haha.. hope that made sense! Thanks!
Hi Fran. I just found your channel. Congrats! I like it a lot. A question here on number 4 (social media): I already have my personal instagram and facebook but of course they all full of my own pics and stuff. Do you suggest I create different acounts with a creative name (like you frannerd) or should I just start getting artistic info into my personal acounts? Thanks for taking the time :) And just in case, I love chilean wine hahaha
Thanks for sharing your tips, I found them very helpful <3 I'd like to ask just for a clarificaton about how to build a portfolio (which is what I'm struggling at now)... So it would be better having a theme, something that connects all the pieces in your portfolio?
Eres asombrosa!
How do you get a job in an office where you can make connections with professionals? I don't really have family connections to people in these fields, and the only kinds of "real jobs"I've had have been fast food and temp gigs... I have been a freelance illustrator for a few years, but I have still had no luck in getting a 9-5 gig
I love this video a lot and although I have heard or read many advices before I still prefer yours. You speak nicely and you explain things with patience so it just made me feel so much better already. There are many people out there who are harsh while giving an advice (intentionally or non intentionally) or judgmental people who have nothing good to add so seeing this was such a relief. "Be nice", that's one of the best advices I have heard and I haven't heard it often so I am so glad that I heard it today. Thank you for this video :)
Hello! I'm drawing since childhood. But I've got a problem! My art style always changes (as well my photos, I'm also a photographer), what should I do? Cauze I don't want to lose myself drawing how others want me to draw... You can look for and critisize my works -> instagram.com/lianada_artist and https://vk.com/zanyas (it is a russian website, but my works are there). Thank you for your attention T_T
Thank you for this. I just stumbled upon this video, and it couldn't have come at a better time in my life. I am currently a college student working on my Associates degree and planning on going to art school to study art. This video really helped me understand that being an artist can be a struggle indeed but you just have me some great tools that have really boosted my confidences and made me realize that being an artist takes just as much work as being anything else in the world if not more, but it is entirely possible to succeed. Thank you again, and I hope to continue to watch your videos and see what else you have to offer for budding artists
